38 weeks today and feeling tortured by our lovely dc3 who may or may not choose to make an appearance soon.

Any ideas on activities I can schedule to keep me from going utterly insane? Have had a pedicure today, planning a trip to the pool on Monday to waft around in weightless splendour for a while, maybe a solo cinema trip another day- what else will help me take my mind off the fact that I AM NOT IN LABOUR YET?

Slightly off topic, but I find it really interesting how some women at this stage (I'm 38 weeks too) can't wait to get things started, and others - like me - are hoping baby gives them some final days to prepare and relax. What do you think makes the difference? Is it physical discomfort or overwhelming excitement or something else?

I relate. I am also 38 weeks and now very fed up... I have been spending my time seeing friends who already have children, sleeping and catching up on my reading and TV programs.

But I can related that I really want this baby out now!

I am nearly at 38 weeks and everything I can do to get this baby out I'm doing. Aside from the sex thing. That would just make me ill, poor Dh. I so sympathise!

I take the dog for lots of short waddles, am going for a cut and colour at a nice salon soon and yes to the pedicure :) poor swollen feet are looking forward to a soaking in the tub! And napping when I can. Sleep is in short supply these days. I got a stash of good books from the library and am slowly working my way through.

On the plus side I might be getting induced next week :)

elastigrrrl not all pregnancies are easy. My pregnancy has been uncomfortable, stressful and riddled with illness. I have had hg throughout (the op was kind enough to direct me to the hypermesis thread :)) , problems with my thyroid and struggled with mental health issues. The thought of having my body back and being able to eat and drink normally, not to mention rolling over in bed without it being a massive effort, is bliss. And yes, I also can't wait to see my baby :) that's the only thing I will miss, feeling her moving around. Aside from that, it's project evict baby in this household!

Elastigrrrl · 18/05/2014 21:51

Well, in that case can I say that the best evidence for successful 'self induction' other than your walks is for nipple stimulation - like for an hour or so. Good luck!
Similarly looking forward to meeting baby and having my bod back (really sympathise with your endless HG livingzuid). I just feel like I will have a lifetime with the little fella and possibly just a few days left to ponder what it all means and get the washing done!!
