Have their been any amazing developments in the world of maternity clothing since 2011? Have they created jeans that stay up yet? Any recommendations? Thanks.

Jeans that stay up? Nope....

beanynamechange · 15/05/2014 13:40

[looks at builders bum]
Nope, still crap..

starrynight123 · 15/05/2014 13:46

I recently got some maternity jeans from Next - the ones with an elasticated band - and... they don't stay up. I wrench them up every few minutes while walking around. Stylish! lol!!!

eurochick · 15/05/2014 13:49

H&M are the best jeans I have found for staying up.

But generally the clothes are pretty dull.

BumpNGrind · 15/05/2014 14:09

Maternity clothes are hideous, most of them are in black, white or blue. Red is if you are very lucky. I've just been trying to find underbump trousers for a work conference-impossible! The tops all gape at the side, showing off the hideous boulder holders aka bra's.
I have however got a pair of underbump jeans from primark which are easily better than some of my normal jeans so I suppose it's not all bad.

beanynamechange · 15/05/2014 14:41

And everything's stripy.. I looked bloody awful in stripes before I was pregnant as do most people I'm not sure why we would want to wear them when pregnant..

starrynight123 · 15/05/2014 15:07

So true about the stripes! Why on earth do maternity clothes designers think horizontal stripes are a good idea?!

saranga · 15/05/2014 16:37

And grey. So much grey. Ugh. I'm never wearing grey again after this.

whiteblossom · 15/05/2014 18:45

oh my lord no. I am sick to death of being forced to order things online in three different sizes in the tiny weeny range that they have. Paying for returns too.

I went into Debenhams today to look at the maternity range- which was there a month ago (very shit but figured end of season range so they will refresh) today they no longer stock it! I have to travel 12 miles to try on the range in store of which they wont have my size!

Next- delivery anything up to 10 weeks....

Peacocks have a tiny range and er no sizes in the half decent stuff and the decent stuff is not on their website!

I want to know who ACTUALLY wears t-shirts that have slogans like "I love my bump" really??!!

I have jeans from mothercare, jeggings underbump, very good and just £20 and they available in store !!! but that's all they really did, the t-shirts from there are crap. (tights are fab though)

Topshop jeans also good-ish. but have to travel 10 miles to try on.

Its soooooooo frustrating I want to scream.

Matalan have weird sizing. Normally a size 10, size 8 fitted my boobs but not enough room for bump growth....and that's the maternity range! go figure.

I could go on but Im sure Im boring you Grin Good luck with your search!

OnABabyDiet · 15/05/2014 18:50

I've bought a maternity belt from seraphine to help with the jeans falling down issue... it's just uncomfortable to be honest! Bah.

ohthegoats · 15/05/2014 19:07

It's all awful. Have two pairs of trousers from jojowotsit. They don't stay up, so I have a baggy crotch the whole time. All tops are intended to be tight or voluminous - no happy medium. If you have big tits uou can't wear the ubiquitous cross over top due to indecent cleavage, which rules out loads of dresses too. Stuff with I love my bump? Really? I dislike my bump, it's making life difficult, is there a t-shirt that says that?

I wore a normal dress today, stretched over my gut - it was a much better option. Can't wear it every day tho!

Heatherbell1978 · 15/05/2014 19:17

I can't for the life of me find a summer maternity coat which is really starting to p*ss me off! If I'd wanted a winter one I would have been fine but do pregnant women not wear coats in summer? I just want a nice coat I can wear to work and casually but have been walking around with an unbuttoned coat for weeks now. Boo:(

omama · 15/05/2014 19:23

I can't believe how awful its got since I was last pg in 2010! None (and I mean none) of the shops near me stock maternity clothes any more, I travelled 50 miles to a large shopping centre expecting to get sorted out there & lo & behold nowhere except H&M had maternity in store & what they had was dire. So been looking online but what is it with everything being black?! Are we supposed to be in mourning for the loss of our pre-pregnancy bodies?! Its completely depressing! Where are all the bright & pretty summery clothes?

ohthegoats · 15/05/2014 19:53

Heatherbell - I bought a mac from jojo mb. Smart enough for my job (teacher), but dress downable. 30 quid in sale.

Cherrypi · 15/05/2014 19:54

Ooh dear I think I've pressed a button there. Damn was hoping you'd tell me of all the amazing beautiful clothes/ feats of engineering that had been created.

this lady is getting some lovely new maternity stuff in soon, I'm gutted I'm too far along to warrant buying anything else cos some of it looks lovely. Barely a stripe in sight either!

LAB123 · 15/05/2014 20:32

I thought it was just me who struggled to keep my trousers up! To make it worse they take my granny pants with them. It's pure glamour here! Have Next overbump jeans and Next underbump trousers for work. Both rubbish at staying up but at least the overbump ones have further to fall down. It's only a matter of time before the others fall down to my knees when I stand up! I find skirts better and have a great denim one from Jojo.

squizita · 15/05/2014 20:37

I've stocked up on boring staples from Purpless (online boring leggings and tunic shop) because tbh it all costs £10-15 but the stuff on the high street for £30+ isn't any more thrilling.

livingzuid · 15/05/2014 20:50

Asda, ASOS, Tesco and H&M supplied my wardrobe. Along with a few pieces from New Look. My jeans are H&M and have stayed up no problem although they are a bit long. Asda in particular had a great range as did ASOS. I had leggings from H&M too.

Maternity tights from M&S were the biggest letdown. They constantly fell down and the elastic at the top went so quickly.

AuntieMaggie · 15/05/2014 20:51

I ordered a load of stuff to be delivered to store for next and tried it all on when I picked it up to make it easier.

I also bought some stretchy tops, skirts and dresses in a bigger size in places like primark and Dorothy perkins which have done me til now (33 weeks) with the odd pair of maternity jeans (which I bought for £10 a pair in the next sale)

JuniDD · 15/05/2014 22:04

I have Blooming Marvellous (from Mothercare) jeggings and jeans from Topshop, which stay up. I do have a massive arse already though so maybe that's why they don't slide down. I have jeans from Red Herring at Debenhams but there is a thick denim band around them which really cuts in so I've gone off them now I'm bigger.

I haven't got many tops but have gone up a couple of sizes in non-mat stuff which is doing for now. I liked H&M tops but the colours are quite limited.

VaselineOnToast · 15/05/2014 22:41

I've only got a few items but I'm happy with them all.

From H&M: straight-leg jeans (which are actually more flattering than any normal jeans I've owned), maternity tights and a short floaty jersey skirt (off eBay, not sure H&M still stock it).

From New Look: black linen trousers that are crazy comfy and have been perfect for wearing in warm weather in Spain

I'll need to invest in some tops though. I just have long non-maternity tank tops that fit. All my sleeved ones show my belly now!

cwtching · 16/05/2014 01:25

I can recommend tops from Apricot clothing it's not maternity wear (www.apricotonline.com) but some of their tops are really floaty, long and perfect for all sizes of bump (non pregnant people must find them enormous!) also they are quite reasonably priced. I've also bought under- bump maternity skinny jeans from Seraphine and so far they stay up and are comfy! X

hubbahubster · 16/05/2014 05:50

Another H&M jeans fan here. Live in my skinnies. And Next leggings are good.

Other than that, I'm wearing Primark vest dresses as tops, usually with another top over them, or my normal tunic length tops. Oh, and Birkenstocks since they're the only shoes I don't need someone else's help to put on...

beanynamechange · 16/05/2014 07:53

Why are all of the colours 'sweat showing' colours as well? When I'm pregnant I don't glow.. I sweat.. I've got two grey tshirts, two red tshirts and two white tshirts.. so over half of my wardrobe leaves me with sweat patches all day!!!
