Hi,
Sorry if this seems like a rant but I need help. I left work on maternity at the start of April due to the amount of appointments I had because my manager made me feel guilty. Now I've been off and I haven't been paid SMP, nit informed if I can get it. I have her my mat b1 firm at in February and she said she sent it to payroll. I'm facing debt now, I'm worried if I contact her shell tell me to wait another month or worse I need to get ma but she hasn't informed me within 7 days nor gave me forms in 28, help? Just to say this manager forgot to do health and safety checks twice, and refused me time to go to antenatal classes. Rant over.

Can you bypass your manager and contact hr directly? If you have worked with the company more than 26 weeks prior to pregnancy you are entitled to smp, if not then ma. You should have had confirmation from your employer prior to finishing. Maybe get outside advice from cab, your manager sounds a bit useless and has not acted properly at all.

Geminiwitch22 · 15/05/2014 06:27

I'm contacting he today. She caused me to have 3 weeks off with depression, she basically made it hard for me while at work and I put up with it so I could get maternity. What is cab? I haven't slept all night because of this and I feel like sayin what's the point of keeping the baby if I can't provide Sad

All this is wrong wrong wrong. I would suggest you contact ACAS or maternity action for advice.

Geminiwitch22 · 15/05/2014 09:22

Quick update for those watching.
Contacted HR, they have said I should have been paid a WEEK ago (at least I know I'm not mad), they've said they will get In touch with payroll about it, although the system says I'm on mat leave. Payroll will get In touch with my manager and then let me know as soon as what's going on. Still am furious that my manager put me through he'll, had emergency monitoring last week and now this..... Confused

cab - citizens advice bureau, they may be able to help you and give you advice on your rights and legal stuff. My sister had a lot of problems with work issues and they were very helpful.

Geminiwitch22 · 15/05/2014 10:01

Notsofastjustfurious and twiglet 2, I read up on cab last week just in case this happened they should have told me 7 days what decision was and written in 28 days. It's now may went on maternity April handed in mat b1 form in March. My manager has not contacted me at all during my mat leave to ask how me and bump are, (she was informed of my high risk pregnancy due to all the appointments I had to attend in hospital) or at least to inform me of any changes.

Superman83, my manager kept comparing My pregnancy to another even though as said above I was in hospital a minimum of 1 a month. I had emergency monitoring last week! I can almost guaranteed a phone call from the snotty selfish cow this woman when I was 20ish weeks said I was huge, and she couldn't provide me a bigger uniform as none was available (baring in mind I'm a 20 shoulder, and was wearing male uniform), she said if I got any bigger I'd have to provide my own, and kept moaning about the way I looked.

Moan over still waiting for a phone call to k ow what's going on...

Final update
Got a call back from HR, my so called manager failed to send off my mat b1 form even after telling me she did. They have told me I'm not entitled to it however no apology! They have said they will send out SMP1 form, and request that my mat b1 form be returned.

Phoned MA people they have said they are shocked but unsurprised and that it happens all the time! They are sending MA forms to me.

Right now feel like crying and hanging myself. So angry that my manager did this to me. If I had known I could have sorted this out sooner! Now feel like carp more sleepless nights because of one "professional" didn't do as they should have.

Hi, don't have a lot of practical advice but it does sound like you need a bit of (ideally real life) support. Is there anyone you can talk to about how much this is stressing you out? Could you go back to CAB and ask for some advice about your options for the short term, until the SMP comes through? Is counselling a possibility?
I'm sure this is really overwhelming, especially when you have so many worries about your pregnancy but it seems like something which can eventually be worked out, although it's the last thing you need at the moment!

Geminiwitch22 · 15/05/2014 17:32

Right I've gone and had a huge piece of cake.... CAB have s as I'd there is nothing they can do. I have written a letter of grevience that I will be posting MA1 form filled out and pay slips found to send I need to wait on my stupid unfair employer to send smp1 form and my mat b1 form. Unlikely to receive these till next week then I have to wait 14 working days...

Meanwhile more prodding...on Monday my midwife with students who will be hitting the roof when I tell her. Thanks for all the advice but unfortunately not a lot anyone can do due to my work screwing letting me down.

Ruth1104, I was referred to a specialist 2 months ago due to depression nothing has happened...

That's really awful, no wonder you're so stressed out. Hopefully you can get the ma sorted out quickly. Definitely lodge a grievance against your manager, she has acted appallingly and should not be in a senior position.

hayesgirl · 16/05/2014 12:21

Why did you get forced to take maternity leave early? You can't be forced by your employer to take maternity before you are 36 weeks!

Also your employer has to give you time off for all necessary pregnancy related hospital/midwife/dr appointments and they can't count any pregnancy related absences in any sickness or absence reviews they might have.

I think you need to be speaking to ACAS about this and see what options you have as definitely sounds like your manager has behaved appallingly!

Geminiwitch22 · 16/05/2014 15:02

Well I have received my smp 1 form from payroll (called yesterday received this morning) however not been contacted by manager to say she sent my mat b1 form out.

Hayes girl: you can take maternity from the 11th week your baby is due, I'm currently under 3 different teams because of my high risks. I'm sending a letter to my HR team due to my treatment at work. However the HR team when I spoke to them were saying my manager did the right thing and they were in a transition period. Why didn't she check? The other thing is been off 5 weeks no phone call to ask if I or my baby are ok... although she phoned the other girl every 3 weeks. My whole family including my mom (a manager at dwp) is appalled at her attitude and treatment. CAB said to write a grviance letter send it in and to say to the MA people what happened.

Just an update and please some support.
After following Notfastjustfurious' advice and(thank you loads btw) sent a letter by first post yesterday I received a phone call from my site manager asking to attend a meeting with HR, about my letter as they some serious concerns over what I have said. Any support is grateful but I am concerned manager will bully/unfairly treat me due to this after I return to work

Is there a friend or colleague at work that you could take in as an advocate? If you are concerned that your manager will try to bully you, you need someone who is on your side.

Geminiwitch22 · 20/05/2014 18:49

I'm taking the DH they said hopefully it will only be head of HR and site manager not my manager who has caused me so much stress. DH is concerned as 2weeks ago.I was on monitoring and we've already beaten the odds but I'm still risking a still birth, complications and baby having health problems. looks at bump worried but I'm doing this so no one else has to go through the he'll I've had to. Thank you for the advice might take him in the room with me to hold my hand

Notfastjustfurious · 20/05/2014 21:55

Glad to hear they are taking your concerns seriously and that you have your dh's support for the meeting. Hopefully they will hear you out fairly and your manager dealt with appropriately.

You need to look after yourself and your baby after this meeting and don't worry about her. If she is stupid enough to give you any kind of grief when you return to work you will be in a much stronger position to complain given the previous history. Best of luck with the meeting.
