NT scan and conflicting dates ?!

Hi!
I have my scan on Monday- it's the screening test I opted for so I basically wanted some advice on what to expect! Will I find out my risk factor there and then? Etc

Also.. I had an early scan due to pain and was dated at 6+6 - however by my dates I should have been 7+3
This means by they're date I will be 11+4 on my scan on Monday however by mine I'll be 12+1

Has anyone ever had an early scan and then the date changed at they're 12 week or will it have been accurate? The woman doing the scan said it's hard to tell at the stage we had the scan cause it was still very small!

Scan dates are notoriously unreliable, any differences of less than a week are usually ignored. I suppose that because babies are full term anywhere between 38 and 42 weeks, it probably isn't a huge issue for most women. It is intensely annoying though Grin

Thanks :) I've heard a lot of people's dates hanging but never specifically from an early scan to a 12 week scan !i hope I'm not put back times going slow enough already!

In my last pregnancy an early scan dated me as 6+1 when I was fairly certain of being 6+4. The baby is tiny at that stage so it is often not entirely accurate. I was rescanned at 9 weeks and the scan matched my dates. I did ovulation tests so I was reasonably certain of conception date. It could just be that your dates are wrong. Dates from last period are based on 28 day cycle with conception on day 14. Perhaps you ovulated on day 18? A difference of just a few days on a scan is not a cause for concern

I had my scan and NT test yesterday. The sonographer I had was very nice, and took quite a few nice pictures of the baby for is (though it spent most of the time in the wrong position which made taking measurements tricky. It was amazing seeing it moving around and you could see quite a lot of detail, which we weren't really expecting.

My dates were changed by one day as a result of the measurements she took. I don't think they are able to give you the results of the combined test (if that's what you're having) then and there because they need to do a blood test, and combine this with the NT measurement and other factors. The actual NT measurement was included in the print out of the notes though in my maternity folder. I was told if I was high chance I'd be notified within 5 working days, but if low chance I would get a letter through with 10-14 days. This might differ though depending on your hospital.

My dates changed between 8+ 5 and 13 weeks turned out when I 'should' have been 13 weeks according to my initial scan I was 13 + 2 then at my 20 week scan I was 2 days behind so I think it very much depends on the speed your baby grows at and the size they are going to be xx

Between my 8 and 13 wk scan my date moved forward by a week. Baby came on the first scan date tho- officially a week late
