I just got my letter my scan is next Friday which by my dates makes me 12 weeks exactly kinda nervous not only for the scan but because I'm not sure how they date it I mean will they put me back two weeks? Will this affect the way I see the baby? Did anyone else have a scan right on the 12 week mark? Thanks

Mine was at 12+4. Why do you think it might put you back by 2 weeks?

Mine was at exactly 12 weeks. Not sure what you mean, why do you think they will put your dates back and why do you think it will affect the way you see the baby?

They date the pregnancy according to the size of the baby. The dating scan is usually around 12 weeks. I've had one at 10+4 and one at 13+5. What is worrying you?

I've seen a few people say this because the midwife gives you the date from the first day of your last period but I thought that then it could be two weeks later that you actually got pregnant when you ovulated or am I being totally clueless here? Lol my midwife said that they don't always change the dates

So at the moment you are currently 12 weeks pregnant based on the first day of your last period? It depends on the length of your cycle and when you ovulated etc but if so then the date given at the scan should not vary drastically from that. All being well you should be able to see the baby quite clearly at the 12 week mark. Good luck with the scan Smile

My first scan was at 12+1, according to my dates I was 10+3 (we only DTD once so I know exactly when conception was). The scan put me at 13+1 so it isn't really exact at all.

Try not to worry and enjoy your scan Thanks

In an average woman, the pregnancy is dated from the last menstrual period and this is 2 weeks before ovulation. Your scan date will roughly tally with this. If you ovulated 10 weeks ago, you are considered to be 12 weeks pregnant and so on.

I had a midwife insist I could be no more than 10 weeks at a booking appointment, sent me for my scan at what shoukd of been according to her "12 weeks" and I was 16 weeks

Her "no more than 10 weeks" came from feeling for my uterus
