More doppler questions

So I'm 14 weeks and I've got a couple of questions, not worried, just curious.

I was listening earlier on my angel sounds doppler and normally I can hear a wub wub wub that is much faster than my own heart beat that I can hear sometimes, I can also hear a swoosh which I'm assuming is the placenta. earlier I could hear the heart beat as normal but had a move around as it faded so i thought baby moved and about an inch away from where I normally hear the wub I heard the wub but there was a slight echo that sounded like a horse galloping along, what was it? Had I just pin pointed the heart better and heard it more clearly?

I also hear sounds as if I've moved the doppler when I haven't, I was thinking this could be the baby moving and brushing against it?
I've also a couple of times felt like I've felt light movement when I've been listening, and I nearly jumped at what felt like a mini kick from inside at where the doppler was on 2 separate occasions - I've felt nothing that could be movement other than this, only when pressing the doppler down, could it be that pushing in on my uterus makes me feel the baby where i wouldnt normally,if that makes sense? I'm aware that 14 weeks would be too early with my first but was wondering if the pressing down could make a difference.

They also said at d,a,u that pressure from the wrap round monitors does increase movements as they dnt like the pressure of the clip thing, I found this out yesterday as I was in dau for 3 hours and the were talking about it as woman beside me had reduced movements and we were all laughing as he was trying his damdest to kick monitor off and midwife told us that pressure can do it

After much googling and you tube. I find that babies heart gear sounded like a train or gallop

Missvaughan85 · 08/05/2014 22:46

Or galloping horses. It sounds very fast.

Thanks for replies

Really wondering if that was baby moving/kicking I felt... It seemed like someone poking me on the Inside, exactly where the doppler is and I could hear the screechy sound the doppler makes when something touches it and I'm sure I didn't move it, it made me jump! Twice on different days seems like a huge coincidence!

That screechy sound always gets me by surprise! It kills my ears!

I hear my babies heart beat as a sort of "dooshhh, dooshhh" A steam train describes it perfectly. Only once has it sounded clip-cloppy like a galloping horse and I assumed that's just because the baby moved into a really good position for me to hear the heart beat.

I'm only 15w5d and have a podgy tummy. Really wish I was skinny just to hear the heart beat more easily and then I wouldn't need the damn thing turned up full blast!

I also swear I can hear movement, whether that's the baby or just my bowels I'm not sure!

Bellyrub1980 · 09/05/2014 03:25

P.S. I definitely can't feel movement. Even of I push down with the Doppler. I guess if you don't have a podgy tummy like me it would be more possible :)

alita7 · 09/05/2014 08:27

I think unless you have a very unsteady hand the sounds are probably some sort of movement :) Good to hear that the horse sound was a one time thing for you as well, part of me was concerned I'd been hearing some other than the hb all the other times, but what I normally hear is about 150- 160 bpm from my counting and a stop watch so I'm probably being silly :p

I would class myself as podgy but it depends, I was size 10 pre pregnancy and a bit wobbly but have probably got an extra layer of fat now :p

If you're hearing anything with a beat that fast it's definitely the baby. Nothing else in your abdomen would pulsate that quickly. I can always find my own pulse if I go too close to my groin on each side, but it's half the speed. My baby's HR is between 140-150. Apparently you can predict the gender with the HR but not sure how accurate that is.
