Hi Guys Im new to this pregnancy thing, and so this site too.
We have a trip to Alton Towers planned for October this year, and I have found out Im 9 weeks pregnant, The midwife says they dont recommend going on Rollercoasters.
I am being silly to want to go on them? I love them.
What are your thoughts?

Thanks
Jimble

Alot of the rides have safety barriers that go around your chest and stomach (sp?) maybe thats the reason - I'm sure theres other reasons too

possible placental abruption

spinach · 28/08/2006 18:57

cos the barriers can crush your stomach?

I know that you cant even go on a merry go round never mind rollercoasters..lol Took ds to camelot last year when pg with dd and was not allowed on anything even the really sedate rides. Went to gullivers world this year and noticed they didnt have any signs up.

I was 8 weeks pregnant when I went to Alton Towers nearly 4 years ago BUT I DIDN'T KNOW!!! I went on every ride, including Oblivion and Nemesis and went on to deliver a perfectly healthy baby boy some 7 months later. If I had known I was pregnant, I wouldn't have gone due to risk of miscarriage but they do say ignorance is bliss!

I went quad biking in a forest - very bumpy - when I was a few weeks pregnant with ds1 but didn't know it, and also went camping and got hypothermia - we had to punch our way out of the tent in the morning because it had frozen solid.

There's no way I would have risked it if I had known I was pregnant, though. Imagine how you'd feel if something awful happened - not worth it IMO.
