Is it normal to pee a little when you sneeze?! I'm 24 weeks pregnant & it's started happening In the last week. It doesn't bother me as such, Im aware there will be strain on my pelvic floor... but my family are making a big deal out of it... (currently having pregnancy related family issues aside from this). Basically it happened last night when I was sat on the sofa (mum, sister & auntie was there), today auntie has wrote on a unrelated fb status "are you still wearing a nappy"... I've given it back as I am fairly thick skinned. Why do people feel like they have a right to say whatever they like because you're pregnant?!

I've heard it can be normal - it's called stress incontinence, maybe look it up on the NHS website?

Think your aunt is mean for putting it on FB!

scrufhead · 08/05/2014 13:15

I wonder if it could be to do with being sick too... i projectile vomit so I guess that could cause strain. best get doing some pelvic floor exercises! haha!

When I read your post the first thing I thought was "yes! It wasn't just me!" Hmm

I have never had a very strong bladder, but when I was pregnant if I had a sneeze coming on and didn't cross my legs I'd more often than not have a little accident Confused it doesn't happen anymore now I'm not pregnant, thankfully!

ChicaMomma · 08/05/2014 13:21

It's only normal if you have a weak pelvic floor, so get doing the exercises before it's too late!! do some now!!

scrufhead · 08/05/2014 13:32

Best get cracking on! All I can think of when it happens is when I was younger and my gran went on our trampoline and wee'd all over it!! I don't wanna be like my pissy knicker gran haha

Boogles91 · 08/05/2014 23:38

Yep its normal, never had a problem like this before...i now cross my legs if im going to sneeze or need to cough, even if im out in public as i dont give two shits what people think....there not the one with a lil bugger in there tums relaxing everything and putting pressure on the piss system! Just wear small panty liners, i do :) x

ruthsmumkath · 09/05/2014 05:50

I had it in all of my pregnancies - practically every sneeze, cough and when I'm sick. Not had a problem when not pregnant - unless I do extreme things like skipping or trampolining without popping to the loo first.

I only every share such like with the kids and my husband. I often wear incontinence pads if I've a cold or know it would be really inconvenient to change!

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!

Cough laugh sneeze and I'd pee lol I had my baby 20 days ago and haven't pee'd myself for 3 weeks lol think it's because baby was pressing my bladder.

As for our aunt that was pretty mean, your right people seem to think its ok to be disrespectful just because your pregnant one thing I don't miss about being pregnant lol

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 09/05/2014 08:29

Your aunt sounds like a complete bitch.

Stress incontinence is not uncommon, but it's rarely discussed openly. Read up on pelvic floor exercises and see if they make a difference.

Cyclebump · 09/05/2014 08:41

Totally normal. Throwing up puts tons more pressure on your pelvic floor as well. I carry babies low it would appear and with DS and current unborn DS I gt stress incontinence from 10 weeks. It's all about heavy duty panty liners just in case and pelvic floor exercises!

Your aunt's comment was incredibly bitchy, especially on a public forum. I didn't tell anyone about mine until I made some fab mum friends. We all giggle about it and I think only one of the group says she didn't get it.

scrufhead · 09/05/2014 09:57

I did think that they would be supportive and laugh along- I won't be sharing anything with her in the future! She's a bit of a nightmare tbh! thanks ladies, I have my granny niks and liners at the ready!! haha x

Yup. Normal. There is a lot of extra pressure on those muscles with the weight of tue baby and even those with generally good muscle tone can experience issues. Keep up the exercises to minimise it and tell your. mean auntie to sod off!

Madratlady · 09/05/2014 10:53

I think it's one of those things that's fairly common but no one talks about it! Remember your pelvic floor exercises and but some tena lady!
