This is my 3rd dc, I'm 17 weeks and still not felt it move
Dc2 I felt from 14 weeks easy as very active and dc1 from 16 weeks.
Anyone experienced this? Could placenta be at front which wil stop me feeling as much??

Could be placenta or just "one of those things" ... They only tend to worry at 22+ weeks so I guess its not a cause for alarm or they'd say so.

Could you ask for a check up/HB check to ease your concerns?

VJONES1985 · 07/05/2014 19:58

I know it's DC3 but I know 17 weeks is still considered early to feel movement for some women. I would ask for a heartbeat check, as squizita said but I'm sure it's fine.

I had an anterior placenta and I didn't feel DS2 until 23 weeks.

weebairn · 07/05/2014 20:23

I think it depends on lots of things including where your placenta is and wouldn't necessarily be the same in all your pregnancies.

thereisnoeleventeen · 07/05/2014 20:28

I was completely thrown by this happening, I had felt all 3 DC's really early, this time nothing until really late. My placenta was at the front, I did at least one worried visit to the MW so that she could check the heart beat.

LEMmingaround · 07/05/2014 20:29

As it is baby number three, it could be that things aren't quite so, um, snug as they were so maybe less likely to feel things early? I am sure there isn't a problem, but it is fine to go and ask your midwife to check things over if you are worried. I don't think i felt DD2 until 20 weeks but it was a while ago!

How do they know if your placenta is at the front? Via a scan

Definitely at the 20 week scan, they check then to see where it is (high/low/front etc).

DownstairsMixUp · 07/05/2014 21:25

Yes at the scan. I've had an anterior high placenta with both and not had any trouble feeling movements but loads of ladies on the antenatal threads have said differently so it's totally possible you have one and are just effected by it :)

dontevenblink · 08/05/2014 06:07

I've got an anterior placenta that is right in the middle of my bump (they picked this up at 19 weeks at the scan), so I barely feel any movements. I am 22+4 now and I'd say it's only in the last week or so that I've started feeling more, but still only low down or to the top, so it depends what position the baby is in. My midwife said that this is totally normal for the position my placenta is in, as it is cushioning all the movements.
