I am 7wks pg. I had salmon fishcakes for lunch and I'm now making tuna pasta. Is this too much fish? I probably won't have any more all week, it's just a coincidence that i've had it twice today. Do you pay attention to the guidelines regarding fish consumption? Maybe I'm paranoid!

Oily fish is recommended twice a week so should be OK if you go easy the rest of the week. Even so, going over now and then isn't very risky.

Tinned tuna is OK as much as you want - the NHS don't count it as oily for some reason.

I thought it was recommended you only have up to 2 cans of tuna a week? I thought I'd read it on the nhs website but perhaps I'm wrong.

But on your actual question I'd have thought it was fine, I try and think over the week rather than individual days.

Ok so just checked the nhs foods to avoid list.

It doesn't count in your oily fish intake, but you shouldn't eat more than 4 (sorry got that bit wrong) tins a week anyway due to the potential mercury content.

Google nhs food to avoid for the details.

4 cans it says here and it doesn't count as an oily fish. 4 cans would be a lot though surely? One can usually makes a dish for 2-3 when made up with pasta or a sandwich.
