Ok, so there is an element of panicky first time mum, all alone going on here.
This morning I was out walking my dog, one second he was walking alongside me, the next he was running at full pelt and before I could let go of the lead I was on the floor. Fell onto my front, onto my belly, not breaking fall with my hands. I'm 27+5 weeks. I immediately called the maternity helpline and spoke to a very nice midwife - who grilled me on my blood group, then told me to go home and rest and monitor movements then call back in an hour. In that hour I felt 5 movements, but started getting some pain. So I rang back and spoke to a different midwife - who said 5 movements is fine but rest for another hour and see if the pain settles. She also grilled me about blood group, but didn't seem concerned about anything. In this second hour I haven't felt a single movement. Baby is a bit hit and miss with movements anyway, and it's always worried me. I was on the verge of calling my regular midwife about it yesterday but then baby was kicking loads yesterday!
I wish they would just tell me to go down there and get monitored, but they don't seem bothered. If they aren't bothered, should I be reassured that everything is ok?

Clearly you're worried enough to post here, which make your concerns valid. I'd just turn up and get checked out so I could enjoy the rest of my pregnancy in peace.
Congratulations. I'm sure you'll be fine.

It is not just a first time mum thing hun, I am sure I'll be just as neurotic on my second pregnancy as I was in my first.

But I do think you are right to be worried if you haven't had regular kicks by now.

If I were you I would call back and ask to be checked over. I am sure all will be fine but just in case and for peace of mind.

You're still worried so call back and ask to be seen.

The blood group questions is because if you are rhesus negative you would need an anti D injection.

Thanks for responses. Currently on hold to speak to someone again!
I know the blood group is about rhesus status - I am rhesus neg but so is DH. I tell them this then they always ask "is he definitely the father?". Grr. That bugs me. I know why they do it, but I don't appreciate always having to defend myself about this every time I speak to a midwife, even at routine appointments.
