Boobs!

Afternoon all!

I'm only 7 wks but my boobs are frankly becoming a tad terrifying! I know this is totally normal and suspect the start of most of me getting a lot bigger. I'm just wondering whether it's too early to go and get re measured? My bras don't really fit now but I'm not sure whether I should wait a bit longer in case they get even bigger?

When did people get re measured and stop having underwire?

I moved up to a larger size normal bra at first and then got measured at 21 weeks for maternity bras without underwire. Should've done it a bit sooner really as was very squished in my B cup, walked out of mothercare in a DD! Now been measured again for nursing bras (38 weeks) and they've given me an E Shock I was only an A to start with!

Excellent, thanks! might just crank up a size for the time being then think about ditching the wire sooner rather than later!

Try some bra extenders. They have me an extra four weeks in my existing bras before I had to spend on new bras. Couple of pounds on amazon!

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 06/05/2014 16:47

Bra extenders will cover your back/ribs being bigger, but not your boobs. I'd say go and get a properly fitted bra. Don't go mad and buy loads though in case you grow more.

it's definitely a cup size issue! Thanks for all the advice, will get myself to M &S for a fitting

I've been wearing belvia bodysilk nursing bras for about 3 months now (weeks 11-23) and they've been great because they're really stretchy and cover a lot of cup and chest sizes. Got them a little on the large size and they've expanded with me. Still plenty of stretchiness left so I hope they'll last out the pregnancy and do me for nursing bras too. Hardly sexy lingerie but so comfortable!

I had to go up 2 cup sizes at 8 weeks. I got measured at Bravissimo but found their bras too expensive so I've just been buying the cheapy 2 pack t-shirt bras at M&S. I'm now using bra extenders too at 26 wks. I'm sure there's a point where I should switch too non-wired but I'm still comfy in the wired bras so just going to keep going with them. Oh and I highly recommend Sainsburys crop-top bras (£5/£6) for sleeping in. Very comfy!

schmalice · 06/05/2014 21:36

That's a great tip about the sainsburys bras for sleeping in! It is so painful to turn over at night. although my cat has taken to showing her love by standing smack bang in the middle of my boobs and making me squeal!

try nursingbra-shop.co.uk - wide selection and cheaper than figleaves etc

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 07/05/2014 09:39

M&S are generally considered to be crap at fitting bras. If you don't have a bravissimo near you, I'd read up on their website about fitting so you can make sure you're satisfied that it fits. I find with bras it's just trial and error, take a load into a changing room and plough through them.

Heatherbell1978 · 07/05/2014 13:11

Yeah the Sainsburys bras tops are great. I was wearing them in bed quite early on as my boobs were sooo sore! They're fine now as it happens, but I still wear them for extra support. Great for yoga too!

CatFaceCrayola · 07/05/2014 21:24

Answering a question I was about to ask myself :)

Is the non under wired bra thing just for comfort or is there another reason behind it??

I'm 7+4 and bursting out of my bras!! I'm already an E cup though so I fear I may have issues finding cheapo temporary bras

AnythingNotEverything · 07/05/2014 21:28

You're fine to wear wires throughout, as long as your bra fits well. They're best avoided in the early weeks of breastfeeding as your boobs can fluctuate so much between feeds and a tight bra could cause blocked ducts and mastitis.

I bought bigger bras at 8 weeks, 27 weeks and then nursing bras at 38 weeks. I'm now wearing my pregnancy underwired bras as nursing bras as I've converted them using kits from eBay.

I'd highly recommend bravissimo, but I'd rather have 1 or 2 expensive bras and wash them more regularly than lots of cheaper ones.

VJONES1985 · 07/05/2014 21:29

I switched to maternity bras at 7 weeks, when my size had already gone from 32D to 34E. Get maternity bras now - they are sooo much more comfortable!

schmalice · 07/05/2014 21:50

have been perusing bravissimo and there does seem to be a shop in town so will head there this weekend. stopped at sainsburys on the way home and am now very comfy in one of their supported crop tops under my jim jams. Thanks for all the help, DH just wasn't cutting the mustard advice wise just kept looking slight terrified about how big they were already!
