Trampoline!

Okay, I'm 15 weeks and having my once weekly paranoid 'have I damaged my baby' moment.

Today I went on a trampoline with my niece. I sat on it while she bounced and I was challenging her to do different tricks like twirl around, bounce on her bottom etc. so as a result I was being bounced around in my sitting position. And a few times I kind of jumped up and down (on my bottom) just so my niece jumped higher (she's tiny, and I'm heavy, it doesn't take much!).

After maybe 10 minutes I got off and told her it was too bouncy for the baby.

And then I thought "oh god, what if it WAS too bouncy for my baby??"

Could I have detached the placenta? If I had done this, would I be aware of it by now? Could I have jiggled the baby about too much and shook it's brain?

I have a Doppler, but as it's 2.47am I might wake up DP who is a v.light sleeper.

Might go in the spare room and use it.

Just tip toed off to the spare room. It took FOREVER but found a heart beat. 140 bpm (roughly). Pretty certain it was 150 when I last measured it. But either way, that's erasures my a little bit.

Might research heart rate and gender to distract me.

Bless you. You will be fine! I thought I'd miscarried at 12 weeks after a heavy bleed and wasn't scanned (long story) but te proceeded to go to the gym everyday and run 5 miles, drink alcohol again, eat crap and yes, bounce in a trampoline with my other kids (probably daily- it's our after school thing in the summer) showing off about doing seat jumps etc (thy are easily impressed) and this went on for 8 weeks until I found out I was still pregnant. Needless to say he is fast asleep right now...you'll be fine xxx

Bellyrub1980 · 06/05/2014 03:31

Wow! It must have been a huge surprise to discover you were still pregnant! Okay, so that's good. I was thinking some women safely go running during pregnancy which I'm sure would be more jumping/impact than my bouncing today. But my paranoid mind has a way of making the irrational rational. Especially in the early hours of the morning!

Thanks for your reply x

Babies are ever so well insulated and protected in the womb as they grow, a bit of bouncing would probably be similar to running down the stairs or walking briskly. They jog about all over the shop!

Probably best to avoid trampolines though in the future as you don't want to cause yourself unnecessary worry even though it's probably fine.

And always remember, everything seems worse at night!!

Isabelle, you're so right! The amount of times I lie awake at night worrying about something and then next day I wonder what all the fuss was about.

But like you sat, Im avoiding all trampolines in future... Not worth the bother!!
