Well when I was pregnant with DS1 I noticed my vision was getting bad, (maybe I read to many books, lol) so I decided once he was born and I recovered from the birth I would get my eyes checked.
But I had emergency gall bladder surgery so had to recover from that, once I did, I found out I'm pregnant again.

Now 15 weeks pregnant and I noticed while driving my eyes hurt, I get a headache and I can only drive with sunglasses on.
At night I sometimes can't read the signs as they are blurry..

I went to see an eye doctor but was told because I'm pregnant they won't check my eyes or prescribe me glasses..

Am I supposed to live with this till the baby is born.. Which is only due in October..

My DH suggested that I stop driving, but I have to go to doctors appt. shopping and I he is working full time so I can't rely on him.

Anyone got glasses while pregnant or did you wait till baby was born?

I used to work in an optician (until fairly recently) and we had no rule about not giving women check ups during pregnancy. Your GP might have been mixed up about that so maybe call your optician and ask them, they should be able to double check with an optometrist for you.

However, I was told that your prescription can change during and after pregnancy so if you do get an appointment then don't go and buy any expensive glasses because you might not need them for long! Get the cheaper option.

I am pregnant too and although I don't drive I have noticed that I can't see things in the far distance quite as well as I used to be able to (I normally don't need glasses at all).

Yes I did two weeks ago! my vision has got awful to the point that I had to stop driving as I couldn't read the number plate of the car in front Blush I have never needed glasses before either. I booked online for a free eye test with Tesco and they were brilliant! The lady did say they don't normally do tests on pregnant people as your prescription can change but I told them my doctor had sent me and they were fine to go ahead. After my test the girls were really helpful and took me over to their cheapy range and I got some glasses for £15. They are not the nicest of glasses but I figured I will wait until baby's born to get a nice pair incase my prescription does change Smile

I used to wear glasses for night time driving amd the cinema prio to falling pg. Once pg with dd I needed them all the time. She is 2.3 and I am pg with the secnd one, and these glasses are just not suitable anymore, my sight it worsening.

Sad

I tjink its just one of the many things related to pg that we never jear about til we are pg.

Hello! I had my eyes tested and new glasses when I was about 30 weeks. They did say my prescription might well change again after I gave birth, so from that point of view I might want to wait, but I didn't so they went ahead.

I had my 2 year sight check at 11 weeks, but my prescription hadn't changed. I noticed I do have to wear my specs more than I use to, especially towards the end of the day. I was told to monitor my vision though and if I notice any changes to go back.
