33weeks pregnant and I fell on my bum!

Hi all...just looking for advice or some reassurance.
I was walking down a bit of a slope today to get my toddler and I slid and fell right on my bum. The pain I felt in my tailbone was awful and there was a small gush of what I assume was pee (I was dying to pee and had a pretty full bladder).

Anyway after much crying on my part (i really jolted my tailbone) I went to the loo and sorted myself out.
this all happened at about 2.45pm, the baby has been moving though not its usual movements or maybe im just paranoid, and I'm starting to worry that it wasn't pee and could've been some waters.

So what I'm asking is if it was amniotic fluid would it still be trickling out ( there wasn't enough to soak my pants) and would there be a distinctive smell?

I know I should have probably rang ny midwife earlier but I had another appointment to go to so was in a flap about that.. just starting to have a wee freak out about it now.

TIA

My guess would be wee, but if you're worried why don't you give midwife a call?

Flexiblefriend · 29/04/2014 19:12

It was almost certainly wee, and everything will probably be fine, but if movements have changed get yourself checked out to be on the safe side. Ring the midwife now. It's not worth the small risk that there is a problem.

Tbh I think I'm just paranoid regarding movements. ....baby is definitely moving in there in fact since I wrote my OP it's been booting me quite vigorously (I just drank a massive glass of water).

My MW herself only works til 5 so would have to call the delivery suite and also arrange for someone to look after my toddler, so as long as baby is moving and no more has trickled out do you think it's safe to assume everything is ok?

Just have a very very sore arse Grin

I fell when I was 33 weeks pregnant, hit my bum, hip and head and twisted my back trying to avoid falling on the bump!

Baby was quiet for about 2.5 hours and a panicked and raced up to maternity unit to get checked, of course as soon as I was put on the monitor she was kicking away like nothing had happened!!

Midwife said that it's normal for them to go a bit quiet after a fall, your adrenaline makes them quieter.

Can you sit still for a bit with a cold fizzy drink? And see what happens?

If in doubt get checked out tho. They won't mind.

lighteningmcmama · 29/04/2014 19:45

Hopefully it was nothing :) I would keep an eye on your tailbone though, if that hurts for a while it's worth getting that checked out to make sure no injury there

whereisthewitch · 29/04/2014 20:38

disco baby is bouncing away so not overly concerned on that part., it was just so scary I really panicked and cried like a big baby (I think I may have actually squealed).

lightening my tailbone is so sore and stiff, I injured it during the birth of my DD so I'll definitely keep an eye on it. Relieved you all think there's very little chance it was my waters, my waters never broke with DD until near the end so I wouldn't really know how it would feel, how they smell etc.

Lol I cried a lot when I fell as well, in fact I may have put my head in my hands and sobbed on my own on the kitchen floor! At the time I felt like a beached whale as well which didn't help my feeling sorry for myself! I felt like a right idiot at the hospital!

Glad you are feeling bit better, get a good rest tonight and relax Smilehope your back and bum are ok in the morning!

whereisthewitch · 29/04/2014 21:20

Yep I must've been a pretty sight falling on my big fat arse legs in the air in the middle of the park Blush

I cried at the time, then to my mum in the phone and then to DH when he got home from work! I'll probably cry tomorrow again in work when I relive it Grin

Any change in baby's movements is something you should never ignore. I would give the delivery suite a ring and explain what happened.

They will be more than happy to pop you on the monitor to trace baby's heartbeat for reassurance.
