I'm 6ish weeks. I feel constantly nauseous, I haven't actually thrown up ( except due to travel sickness) but just keep wretchin and gagging.

Is this normal?

Oh god that brings back many memories! I was never sick and still never to this day but the dry heaving and gagging was awful! I had to carry a paper bag everywhere with me. Mine only disappeared at about 16/17 weeks!

Twizzletoes · 28/04/2014 22:15

I used to have a good 'ol heave and never be sick really, it made me feel better nausea wise!

Heatherbell1978 · 28/04/2014 22:44

I did that every morning from 5 to 12 wks. As soon as I sat up in bed, it would come on and I'd just heave in the bathroom for 10 mins bringing up saliva and sometimes bile if it was bad. I think I was actually sick about 4 times and weirdly right at the end of the first trimester just before I got better. 25 wks now and no nausea since 12 wks if that helps!

Smartiepants79 · 28/04/2014 22:47

Yes, yes, yes. Sadly.
I had this for months.
Get used to it!
It should get better after 12 weeks but don't bet on it.

CatFaceCrayola · 28/04/2014 22:56

Oh well...at least I know I'm normal even if it is grim.

my stomach/back are killing

I had this problem. I was revoltingly sick up until last week really, usually vomited in the morning & then spent the rest of the day heaving until my stomach muscles, back & intercostals were so sore it hurt to breathe. It's shit.

I bought one of those microwavable lavender bean bags & it was fab. The smell was mild enough not to make me feel sick and the heat isn't aggressive at all, just gently soothing. Watch out for a sore throat too - if you can keep it down, try a drop of lemon with a spoon of honey melted in some hot water. I tried the instant version at first but it just made me spew some more.

Sorry you're going through this. It will get better after a while though! Thanks

it can help to make sure your stomach isnt completely empty, dry crackers or something, or bread. anything to stop it getting completely empty, that can make the nausea worse

Bumpforme2014 · 29/04/2014 22:14

Yup I had this from week 7 as soon as I woke and stood up I would be in bathroom wrenching up saliva and sometimes bile. I am 16 weeks now and retching almost completely gone but had couple of days of vomiting recently that I hope is the end of it! I found it was worse when I was tired and really hungry, try sipping water soon after you get up.

hobbjobb · 30/04/2014 07:45

I am currently 37 weeks and still wretch all the time.
May I recommend you start on your pelvic floor exercises if you haven't already? I've got to the point now that every time I wretch, I piss myself a little. Delightful

porsmork · 30/04/2014 07:58

Yup, totally the same. I've always been sick easily, in fact quite used to puking in the mornings due to 3 months of doing so due to work anxiety last year! I'm 8 weeks and feeling nauseous from about 9.30 am until I go to bed. Gagging lots. The smell of water makes it so much worse, so hanging out over the toilet bowl isn't much fun. Let's hope it passes! X

liquidstatehasrisenagain · 30/04/2014 13:50

Am 31 weeks and have wretched since week 4. Only occaisionally actually vomit (which I actually find less painful Confused).

Am in the same situation as HobbJobb. Work on those pelvics!!

Also another water avoider here. Have been drinking orange squash for months and actually had a few months where I could'nt bath or shower without puking.

Raxacoricofallapatorius · 30/04/2014 13:56

I used to retch (although in pregnancy they should rename it WRETCHing) constantly with dc1. I can't decide if it was better or worse than the full on sickness with dc2. Tooth brushing in particular was awful.

27mummmy2boys · 30/04/2014 15:02

Totally normal!! I found sucking extra strong mints or super sour sweets helped me feel less sick used to have packets of sweets next to the bed for when I woke of a morning! And I'm not a sweet person really. Oh and lolly ices for some random reason helped! And kept me hydrated..

My baby is due on Monday and have started feeling sick again so feel your pain xx

Plateofcrumbs · 30/04/2014 15:33

I had this all through first trimester, tailed off in early second trimester. Very rarely actually sick but did a good 'cat with a furball' impression on a regular basis. Mine was triggered by moving about, particularly walking about after a period of sitting/being stationary. Commuters on my route must have got used to the strange woman going 'ackk ackk ackk' every time she got off the train!

CatFaceCrayola · 30/04/2014 18:50

Mints seem to help (although the number of them that have ended up down the loo is ridiculous!)

I almost wish I would just be sick!

Good advice about the pelvic floor exercises!
