How many weeks were you when you had your whooping cough vaccination?

Hi Ladies,

I'm booked in to have my whooping cough vaccination, however it falls at 27 weeks and 5 days. I know that it is recommended that you don't have it before 28 weeks so I asked my midwife if it was OK, her response was "it shouldn't be problem". Call me pedantic, but I want it to not be a problem and not possibly not be a problem!

Did anyone else have their vaccine before 28 weeks or does anyone have any more solid advice that wasn't provided by my midwife?

Thanks Smile

You are probably being a tiny bit pedantic- i've heard of people getting it up between 27 and 31 weeks. 2 days early really should not make a jot of difference surely? That's not 'solid advice' though i realise, just anecdotal.

Also, i didnt get it myself- that's a can of worms you probably dont want opened though!!

No you can't have it before 28 weeks.

It is unlicensed before then and shouldn't be given.

I'm a practice nurse and have had to turn women away at 27+6 before as I am not 'authorised' to give it under the terms of our PGD before 28 weeks.

Thank you both for your replies.

I think I will rearrange for a later date, I would rather be safe than sorry. And I would also rather not waste the time of the nurse or HCA if I was to turn up and they couldn't give it to me because of my dates.

Thanks
