Okay so last week I basically moaned to my partner saying all my symptoms have gone and I'm worried I might not be pregnant- totally irrational I know
Then since Friday morning sickness has had a firm grasp over me. I have only been sick 4 times but the wretching and the feeling that I have to be sick is too much
I get a 7am train to work which takes nearly an hour this morning was TORTURE I was wretching sweating shaking and generally probably looked like I was going cold turkey or something? How can I control this at work? I'm open to any suggestions! ANY

Unfortunately, it differs for everybody! Check out the Hyperemesis Support thread on here for various solutions. I am coming out of that phase now, but I found the worst thing was to actually have an empty stomach. Try to eat a little bit every hour or so, even if it's just a couple of crackers.

Make sure you're drinking lots - if water won't stay down, try some peppermint or ginger tea or some Lucozade maybe?

Things that helped me at work were: dry nibbles (crackers, biscuits, plain crisps - though oven baked were best as standard can be a bit greasy which was a big no no!) when it was very bad, a bit of protein when it was more bearable, like little cubes of mild cheese.

Try looking into acupressure bands too, I found them fab for work. Just click the little disc when you're feeling sick & it helps to soothe the nausea. Easy to be discrete with them too! And they're cheap.

If it remains hideous, I'd go and see the doctor. They can give you medication for it and it's much better for you to be healthy & hydrated! Sympathetic hand holding is always available on here too Thanks.

I'm seconding the intake of regular dry, plain foods (belvita biscuits were my saviour in the morning), or dry toast. As hard as it is to choke down some food when you feel nauseous, I used to find that the nausea used to ease off slightly when my stomach wasn't empty.

Another thing I would say is tiredness made the nausea worse. My regular bedtime in the first trimester was about 9pm when I wasn't stuck at work!

Also keep some mints in your bag. Firstly they give you a little bit of sugar when you physically can't face anything else, and secondly they are good for breath-freshening if you did end up being sick and aren't in a place that you can go and freshen your mouth up easily (work, etc).

I also found that despite my initial (naïve) pre-pregnancy beliefs about eating extra-healthily in pregnancy, the first 10 weeks or so of pregnancy largely comprised of just eating whatever I fancied or whatever I could stomach eating, rather than anything particularly healthy, as anything else I just couldn't manage to eat. I'm pleased to say this stage does eventually pass (at least for most people), but you may well have a few weeks of this, so please be kind to yourself over the next few weeks. xxx

I could have written the previous post. I was exactly the same - regular plain carby things like Belvita were my saviour and I didn't leave home without them. Mints helped on transport. Tiredness and hunger also made my nausea worse.
