Hi
Iv got my first consultant appointment in a few days due to severe preeclampsia in previous pregnancy. What is likely to happen (im 28 weeks) will I have anymore appointments with them? Will they do an extra tests? Whats likely to be discussed etc
Feeling a bit anxious as had such a traumatic experience last time and its all getting a bit real now!

I had my first one on Thursday (due to age and previous DVT). I'm 18 weeks, so they did the 16 week midwife appointment first, then I saw a registrar about blood stuff which probably took 10 minutes, he gave me prescriptions for stuff, and sorted out further appointments (a Doppler scan, the 20 week scan), then I waited around for an hour for all the paperwork to come linked to the stuff he'd given me. I then spent an hour wandering around the hospital to the pharmacy, to ultrasounds, to blood test place etc.

It took 4 hours in total, and they booked me an 8.40am appointment when the admin staff don't even start until 8.45, and all clinical staff were in a meeting until 9.15am. Take a book, but don't expect any panic inducing situations. I guess if you had pre eclampsia last time then you'll get prescriptions for aspirin, vitamin D, calcium and all the other bits that go with it, and possibly an extra scan to check blood flow. Don't worry about it though... apart from the boredom bit with the waiting around.

What Goats said... Nothing scary but a long wait sometimes!
