Hi I don't post a lot but I do follow threads. And so was looking for some advice!
I'm nearly 22 weeks with my 4th baby (had 3 miscarriages) my middle child was a 28 week prem so pregnancy hasn't always been a walk in the park and last year we lost a baby at 14 weeks needing an emergency d and c to stop huge blood loss.
Anyway this pregnancy has been going well without any major issues up to now.
I've felt movements for a while now but my question is is it normal to feel them so low mostly? The baby feels like it is constantly moving at my hair line still and hardly much above. Certainly nothing much at my belly button at all. As I type he is literally kicking really low and I've never had this with a previous pregnancy. Sometimes I feel like he is kicking my cervix and I feel I'm forever needing the loo! Sorry for tmi!

Anyway anyone had similar or should I be concerned? Maybe it's Cus this is my 4th ? I have no Idea :/

Oh just to add I do have an anterior placenta which I've not had with previous pregnancies. Although it is high

Congrats Smile I'm 35 weeks and baby was breach up until 32 weeks so it was all low. Movements until recently, but generally your uterus will reach somewhere up near your rib cage about 24-28 weeks I would have thought (judging by diagrams)... Now days I feel like she's going to pop a rib at the same time as burst out of my vajay!

Hiya! Im 23 wks tmrw with bubba 4 and know how you feel Smile I do think the more pregnancies you have, the lower down the baby can snuggle in the pelvis as its all been 'stretched' that bit more already!!
It could also be how your baby is laying, if limbs are on your cervix having a little dance around it will feel a lot lower Smile

Only this week I have felt my little man move up a lot higher when laying down in bed but when Im sat down its low movements.

Try not to worry - at the moment its a bit early for regular movements/patterns. I hope the pregnancy goes well Smile

Hi! Thank you! I'm probably worrying about nothing, i'm not usually a worrier in nature but I've just replaced one worry with another in the last 4 months or so :)
My last LG was breech and I had to have her manually turned but she turned breech late on. I do think the anterior placenta may have something to do with the area of movements. If it is cushioning his movements on the front wall maybe I'm just more observant of the very low ones. (Placenta is slap bang in the middle)
Congratulations on your pregnancy too! Not long for u :)
I've just these last few weeks started to let myself feel excited !

Thank u Lucy. It does feel higher when I'm lying flat.
I think i was more concerned because of previous prem birth that he was just "too" low ? But that's a little ridiculous as my 1st LG had been a usual normal pregnancy until 28 weeks.
I'm just saggy and stretched from 3 other babies lol! Not a lovely thought considering I'm 28 ;)

Although your fundal height should put baby at the belly button for 22 weeks if you look at the mums net week by week pregnancy guide to inside...

you can see where baby is likely to be at this stage...

but it is all a guess.

My baby was still pretty low at 22 weeks and I only started feeling her at 20 weeks..

I think you are absolutely right that you don't feel the movements higher up because of the placenta but you feel them below it at your hairline.

You will probably feel more movements higher up when the baby gets a bit bigger and the movements are more vigorous!

Sarah2013mum · 25/04/2014 19:19

My fundal height seems on target for gestation from what I can feel peapod the top of my uterus is up at my belly button if not a slight bit higher. All measurements were normal at anomally scan last week ( slightly shorter than average femur length but nothing of concern) it's just where he decides to be I guess an where he seems to like to prod me !

I think subconsciously because of my history I would just like him to be sitting higher up and as far away from my cervix and the outside world as possible at the min ! :)

Hello, I'm only on my second but have also fretted about movements being lower down, and quite light. It recently occurred to me that I'm maybe comparing it to my most recent experience, eg the end of my pregnancy with DS, when he was booting me in the ribs regularly! Smile. And maybe that memory had made me forget what earlier movements can feel like, IYSWIM.

I'm 28 weeks and my baby movements still feel quite low. MW and Dr both think baby is transverse and that would contribute to feeling things lower. They don't seem worried so I am trying not to be.

Im on my 4th pregnancy and also have an anterior placenta. Although I'm having twins I'm surprised the difference an anterior placenta makes. I'm currently 32+3 and only feel movements around the placenta which is top along ribs and way down low. Early on the only movements I felt were really really low. I would imagine with only one in there you'd hardly feel anything. I have found I get more pain in my back and kidneys when bump is kicking around in there.
