Low lying placenta and flying

Would be interested to hear views on this.
Am 22 weeks pregnant and at scan today was told my placenta is low anterior, though not actually covering the cervix.
I know it is very likely it will move but I am due to fly to Greece on holiday at 26 weeks, returning a week later.
Will speak to hospital on Monday morning but grateful for any views on this in the meantime. Thanks!

It mostly moves but in my case it didn't so having a cs in 2 weeks. Either way there's nothing you can do about it so enjoy hol and they'll check again at the next scan. Not too upset about it as in my opinion as long as my baby is safe I don't care.

...concerned about that, I meant to say! But do need to work out if the holiday poses a risk.

I was a bit earlier than you, at 13 weeks with placenta previa partially covering the cervix. I was told no flying due to the risk of it rupturing. BUT, I'm in Mexico so I don't know how that differs from UK advice. At 16 weeks, it had already started to move around, which the doctor said is very common. I guess it would depends when your next scan is so you can see if it's moved or not? Sorry not to be more useful!

I'm in the Uk and was told not to fly. Caught a ferry instead but still ended up in hospital with lots of bleeding. See what your doctor says......and if you go, make sure you know the closest hospital and have all your notes with you!

Curioushorse - was your placenta just low or actually covering, ie 'official' placenta praevia?

I'm also 22w and flying long haul next week. I've just been to the GP today to get a letter saying I'm fit to travel (just in case the travel insurance would need to see it in event of a claim), and she was perfectly happy to write it for me. I haven't had any bleeding or other complications.

And should have said - in my case the placenta is low-lying and reaches to the cervix, but doesn't cover it.

Thank you Allduffedup - v useful!
