Been offered 24/7 access to a trauma care midwife for this pregnancy and labour..... Any one else had this?

The birth of ds 18 months ago was very traumatic: misdiagnosed liver condition for me, horrible section, baby born with no Apgars and needed a lot of intervention and care to save him. Assaulted by the dr in theatre. Given a overdose on the ward caused me to collapse while holding ds at 13 hours old. We both hit the floor, he was taken to special care (thankfully he was fine), then no proper pain relief for me at all due to the reaction I had, 24 hours of torturous agony before an angle of a midwife 'rescued' us and got us back on track by getting ds out of special care, getting me appropriate pain relief and then fought to get me discharged into the care of the community midwives as it was clear to her that being on the ward was in itself making me ill with anxiety and stress.

Anyway, I'm now pg with #2 and had booking appointment this week. Mw said that given what we went through, I can be assigned to the trauma team. This means that I'll have community midwives on call to me 24/7 in case I need to go into to hospital before or when Dc arrives. They will be with me at all times as my advocate and supporter to ensure I receive proper care.

It sounds too good to be true. I've never heard of this kind if service before and was wondering if anyone else had had it and what it entailed in reality?

Sounds really good and something I hope we see more of. I would imagine it is a trial in your area which is why no one has heard of it.

I hope it helps you to move forward with this pregnancy and allow yourself to heal.

It sounds like they are looking after you. It might be a team attached to mental health midwifery..
