Hi
My sickness started of mild with being sick maybe once a day, to now I am sick about 3+ times a day and violently.
This is my first pregnancy and I have already tried ginger biscuits and chews! I have stopped eating acidic foods/fruits but still I am being sick and I am really drained. Is there any mums out there that could help who has gone through this? Thank you

I wish I could tell you a magic way to make it stop but I can't. I suffered terribly upto 18 weeks and its now made a sneaky return a few days ago and I'm now 27+5.

The only thing that eased my pain was eating little and often. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids too.

You will get through it!!

Urgh, sounds horrible. I'd really recommend the hyperemesis support thread - lots of really good advice there. By the sound of it you could be at risk of dehydration so I'd definitely think about getting medical advice to monitor this, they can also advise on medication as there are things that you can safely take in pregnancy which can help relieve your symptoms and stop you getting any worse.

Thank you for the advice. Its just horrible and im a nanny looking after 2 children. I will try what you said though, thank you again

Sorry OP it's grim isn't it? My only advice eat little and often, snacks rather than full meals. As it goes on you will identify what foods make you worse and you will be able to avoid them.

joanna89 · 24/04/2014 08:49

That is what I am worried about is dehydration but I am drinking am much water as I can. I may be seeing the evening doctor tonight as I feel so drained aswell from being sick all the time and I look after 2 children! I will take your advice thank you jess

Glad you're seeing the dr. There are pills you can take to stop the sickness. Was the only thing that stopped mine.

whereisthewitch · 24/04/2014 08:52

If it gets unbearable ring your gp who will be able to prescribe medication. Mine started out mild and turned into hyperemesis by week 8 and only went away at 24 weeks.....I had 13 weeks off work. I took cyclizine to start with and when it just wasn't cutting it I had to tke medication called chlorpromazine which helped but made me so tired.

Hope it passes quickly for you i can honestly say it was the worst time of my life :(

joanna89 · 24/04/2014 09:07

Depending on if nothing else works then I will defo take the medication but I want to try out the foods and drinks before medican. Im just hoping I dont have this much long to draining my body is so weak from being sick and lack of sleep! Thank you for the advice x

Morning, I have just found this site and the threads are so useful. I am 8 weeks and I am really struggling with nausea too, I haven't been sick at all but all day I feel like I am on a ferry in the North Sea! I have to drive over an hour to work each way and I am struggling with that so any advice will be welcomed. Don't think the fact I am pregnant has sunk in yet

whereisthewitch · 24/04/2014 09:20

I know the feeling just don't leave it too long or you may find that milder tablets like cyclizine just don't cut it and you'll need the strong stuff, I've been through this twice so an old hand at it.. Def have a read at the hyperemesis threads on here!

Most people find it is at its worst between 8 and 14 weeks. .. wish it had been that way for me :(

Aaargh

Google "pregnancy sickness support"

jessplussomeonenew · 24/04/2014 13:05

There's a current thread with loads of recommendations of food you might tolerate. The thing that helped me most was getting lots of rest and lying flat after food or when nausea was bad. Hope your GP is sympathetic - do mention how often you're being sick etc as this helps to demonstrate you have more than normal nausea.

littlebeansunshine · 24/04/2014 15:33

I am 9 weeks and feeling sicky sick too so you aren't alone in this. I am sick sometimes but I don't mind that it's the never ending feeling so sick constantly I want to curl up and die. I can only compare it to feeling like I have seasickness or severe hangover (minus the party) 24-7! The only things I have found to help a bit so far are distractions (lying on my side listening to jolly music), fresh air, nibbling on ritz crackers, plain jacket potato, cherry drop sweets. Also eating satsumas makes me feel worse at the time but after they digest I seem to feel momentarily better. Hope you feel better and if you are being sick frequently see your GP as you don't want to get dehydrated. Anyone else got any suggestions to help? Much appreciated x

I was throwing up multiple times a day as well, doctor just said 'sickness is common in pregnancy'. It doesn't help when you are so tired anyway. I didn't find that any remedies helped me at all, I just had to get through it. But you must rest when you can, sleep all weekend if you have to, it'll only be for a few weeks. I just refused to socialise as I knew I had to have all my strength to go to work. I found very bland foods like noodles, toast and rice cakes were all I could handle and also made the inevitable vomiting less horrid. Chewing gum a lot helped a tiny bit. It ended at around 13-15 weeks I think.

Kels13 · 24/04/2014 19:56

I've been like this for the last ten weeks and the midwife recommended drinking the lucozade isotonic drinks. Really recommend them, they replace a lot of what you lose being sick and help with energy levels. Have really helped me keep going at work xx

aroha77 · 24/04/2014 19:58

Sorry you're feeling so sick :(
The only thing that has helped me has been taking promethazine throughout!
