Ultrasound cost in S/W France

Hi there

I've recently gone through 4 early mcs and thought I was having another yesterday. I had a prebooked scan which I rang to cancel but they told me to come anyway to check.
Anyway they found a sac and a yolk!!

Absolutely over the moon but they need to check it's growing and advised me have another scan in 10-14 days time.

Thing is, we are off to France tomorrow for 4.5 weeks so I would need one there. I have a letter to take with me.

I'm booked for another one here on 27th May, just in case I can't get one, but I really don't want to spend the next 4.5 weeks worrying.

I'm currently bleeding dark pink when I wipe, so they weren't sure yesterday if I was loosing a twin or it was the start of this one ending hence i really want a scan in 10-14 days.

Does anyone know if you am walk into a hospital and pay for a scan, if so how much?
I doubt our travel insurance will cover it due to it being an 'existing' thing rather than a new thing iykwim?

In France there are private scan centres (centre de radiologie et d'ecographie) in addition to hospitals. I have had all my pregnancy scans in the scanning centre in my local town and not at the hospital.

Based on my experience you would need to take a prescription for the scan and have a pre booked appointment. See if you can find a centre close to where you are staying and ask at the reception if you can pay and how much, and depending on the answer ask to book an appointment. You might be able to get some of the cost refunded via the Caisse Primaire d'Assurance Maladie where you are staying if you keep all the paperwork and have a European Health Insurance Card - no idea if this is definitely possible. Do you speak any French?
