Pregnant, can I stay in my house?

Not sure if this is the right place to post so I apologise in advance if I'm in the wrong place.
Just want some advice, I found out I'm pregnant and I live with my sister we rent a house £595 a month with bills etc on top, would I be able to continue living with my sister in the house, I don't want to move out or at my parents as love it here, my job is 5 minutes walk as I don't drive. just not sure about all the different things eg help with rent etc . I work full time too, 42hrs a week sometimes more.

Yes of course you can live with your sister if you are both happy with that arrangement.

Is your sister happy about living with a baby?

Yes she loves living here too and said she'd be happy.
Just wasn't sure if I'd be able to afford it as don't know how things work, as if I'm not at work anymore how will I pay the rent etc?

Will you get paidmaternity leave from work, if so how much ? Is the father going to support you? Can you save money now for when your income starts?

It's hard for anyone to advise without knowing more about your income and circumstances. You might be entitled to housing benefit whilst you are in maternity leave but that would probably also depend on your sister's income.

Longer term you need to think about the costs of child care if you are returning to work.

I'd suggest contacting the Money Advice Service for general budgeting advice and your local CAB for advice on benefits you may be entitled to.

What is your companies maternity pay? You should get basic mat pay for 9 months.
