Hello, originally put this in nappies but have moved here for more traffic.

We're expecting our first baby in June and during a baby show we attended recently someone demo some Gnappies for us. We really loved the style and the convenience of having a disposable insert.

Our questions are this...would you recommend Gnappies (thinking of using them from birth if possible) or does anyone have a better recommendation...I think having a disposable insert is a deal maker for us.

It is very hard to tell regarding any type of nappies (reuseable, hybrid or disposable) until you meet your baby and know their shape.

Personally I don't really 'get' hybrid types. What advantages do you see?
As far as I see it it is still washing with only limited reduction in landfill. Sure others love them though.

If you want to try them, buy a few and see how you go. Bumgenius flips have this option too don't they?

A friend of mine is using G nappies and loves them.

Thanks for the replies.

Advantages are the ease of just having to change the insert rather than whole nappy each time. Still need to wash the other parts, but I have been told not as frequently.

I would buy some and try, but they're not cheap and also might not be best on market. Not heard of bumgenious ones, for example, so will check them out.

I suppose I don't really get the reuseable advantage to them though. Unless you are going to home compost them? Because in landfill, they don't biodegrade. So why put yourself to the bother?

I am really not negative about reuseables, we have used them with both our daughters and will with our new baby. I just think that often the 'best of both worlds' (e.g. hybrid nappies, or supposedly eco disposables) aren't really.
