home birth - Princess Royal Maternity in Glasgow

Hi there. I am planning a home birth for DC2 and after booking in appt. been referred to home birth / home confinement team at Princess Royal Maternity in Glasgow for assessment. The MW art booking in was quite surprised I wanted this and said that they get less than 10 requests per year?

Does anyone have any experiences of / with them as feeling both nervous and excited to meet them.

Apparently all my antenatal care ( not scans / test obv) will be done in my own home!!

True ziptoes and EDD can change as time moves on. Just have to get over mental block / fear of induction and channel positivity.

If you are on facebook - there is a really lovely positive birth Glasgow group. I've joined it and love to read the birth stories / links. Haven't posted on it yet as that would mean "outing" myself as pg and no-one knows yet.

Yes, my letter arrived yesterday. Had to change my scan date by a few days, so that is 3 weeks today with booking the week before. I'm a member of the positive birth glasgow group too, but haven't posted for the same reason. I plan to go along to their get-togethers when I'm a bit further along.

That's not great being told they won't let you go past your edd, it's your choice not anyone else's. You've got plenty of time at least to look at options if you were to go past your edd, and to make your own decision about what is best for you and your baby. And definitely channel that positivity!

Thanks guys - I agree with you stripy it does seem odd to be asked to make decisions without any facts. I did ask the gp what the difference between the two hospitals was, she said it would be easier to get to the southern from where we are (in the west end). Not sure given that I and my hubby drive that location is the main consideration!
Thanks zip I googled with more determination and have now done the virtual tour.
I'd love to hear how you ladies get on with the home birth team.
Also, I had a look at the birth rocks pregnancy yoga - that looks amazing. Haven't been able to find the price though.

In case anyone is interested I got in contact with yoga bellies west end - they run pregnancy yoga for ladies who are 14-16 weeks and provide a hypno-birthing cd with a course booking. the classes run in 8 week blocks. she has a wait list so is taking bookings for June. It costs £85 for a block of 8.

ffallada - thanks for that. It seems the next course is on Tuesdays from 7.15pm. Trying to work out if possible as work many tuesday evenings - fingers crossed.
