I read somewhere that anything between 24 and 30lbs, I think it was, is normal.
Last time I gained 19lbs the whole pregnancy and I went 10 days overdue. This time they only weighed me at my booking in appointment and haven't since as they don't do that anymore. It's not productive for them to weigh the mothers as it causes anxiety and doesn't give any indication of how the baby is growing since every woman is different.
I however ask to be weighed at every appointment, every 4 weeks, because I'm nosy and I want to know but they don't write it in my notes. Last time I was weighed I had gained 19lbs, that was at 28 weeks and I haven't been weighed since, now 32 weeks. So I know I'm going to have gained more by now.
So long as you're eating and feel ok I don't think you have anything to worry about. AS a rough guide...
Your baby weighs approximately 7.3lbs
? The muscle layer of your womb (uterus) grows dramatically and weighs an extra 2lbs
? The placenta (afterbirth), which keeps your baby nourished, weighs approx 1.3lbs
? Your breasts weigh an extra 0.9lbs
? Your blood volume has increased and weighs an extra 2.6lbs
? You have extra fluid in your body, weighing 5.7lbs
? Plus, you will lay down some fat during your pregnancy to provide you with extra energy for breastfeeding. This comes to about 5.5lbs.
So, by the end of pregnancy you will weigh about 24.2lbs more than you did before you became pregnant. This is an average weight gain but not every woman is average. Some gain more some gain less.
the trick is not to worry about it, hard I know and if the baby needs any extra vitamins etc it will leech them from you.
Hope to have helped.
