Wear gloves and listen to your body. When it says stop and rest do that. I don't do any really heavy duty digging any more. It actually helps me with back pain and stress so has been wonderful for my pregnancy.

Just wear gloves and be careful to wash all traces of soil off as the only danger is from toxopmasmosis. You can also ask your midwife to test you for this as if you have had it in the past (just like flu) then you can't get it again.

Avoid cat poo especially because of toxoplasmosis.

I've been wondering this becuase we have just got an allotment and are digging it in just now. Last time I think I overdid it and hurt and old injury in my rib so I've been taking it easy (ie make OH do all the hard stuff).

AM hoping that planting will be okay though...

I always thought it was a good thing to do in pregnancy (provided you are not over doing the lifting). I've gardened through all my pregnancies, I hate dirt under my nails so I am definitely a glove wearer.

I have 3 DC's so if I find cat poo in the garden I have to move it usually with a nappy sack so I don't touch it.

Anything that involves kneeling over something is good for getting the baby in a good head down position (same theory as scrubbing the kitchen floor), you are keeping fit and getting a vitamin D boost.

The only frustrating thing is that everything takes so much longer because I keep having to rest.
