SPD help needed!

I had bad SPD in my first pg with DD aggravated by hypermobility, a previous horseriding injury and a bad fall at 20 weeks which seemed to kickstart it all and I ended up in a wheelchair, literally screaming through the nights.

This time it started at 9 weeks Shock and now at 10+4 I'm already strapped up with the belt, struggling to walk too far, wincing getting in & out of bed & the car and up & down the stairs... I am starting to really panic that if it's started this early and got this bad this fast I'm going to be in the chair screaming again by 20 weeks. Last time I got to 37 before I was crying and begging the hospital to get her out now as I couldn't take anymore. I can't take 20 weeks of that!!! Sad

Any advice at all? I saw a physio & osteo last time, started with belts & crutches & I hired mobility aids from the Red Cross when it got bad, slept with pillows stuffed everywhere, knees locked together as much as poss, to be honest it all did bugger all!

Anyone know any real remedies??

Also can I sleep in the belt? I didn't find the belt much use at all last time but seems to help more this time, just worried about squishing the babies head if it rides up in my sleep! Grin

Didn't want to read and run, my spd started early and was terrified I would be in agony by 20 weeks... I'm 27 now so getting there. All I can suggest is go to a diff physio/osteopath and follow advice for stretching etc. I've found that some days are unbearable and others moving is best thing possible no logic to it Sad hope you can avoid wheelchair this time...

Thanks ickle. Smile

Mentioned it to my mw at my booking in and text her the other day asking if she could sort out a referral asap but not heard back. Seeing her next week so will talk to her then.

If it is that bad already, go to GP for a physio referral. In my previous pg I had problems from 17-28 weeks or so, when DD turned breech, but I had a good physio and osteo, which may have helped. But I'm not in any pain now at 10w. Good luck.

I had spd in my first pregnancy and was really helped by an amazing chiropractor who managed to align me again so I could move relatively pain free.

I'm 16 weeks into my 2nd and am being super careful. I have a great book which has helped with sleeping, sitting positions. It's called 'relieving pelvic pain during and after pregnancy'. Every time I've started to ache, I've done the realignment exercise and felt better. It does sound like yours is quite bad though so maybe professional help would be needed first.

I hope you find something to help.
