28wks, don't look pregnant

People ask how far gone and when I say 28weeks they say I don't look it, usually I'd take this as a complement but hearing it all the time now is worrying me about the size of baby. I personally don't think I look pregnant at all just fat bumps not firm. I'm only 5ft and a size 12. Am I going to have a small baby?

Have you discussed with a midwife? For reassurance!

Bumps vary in size and if your healthcare team aren't worried I'm sure all is good. People speak without thinking.

I'm 17 weeks and already getting pressure about bumps and kicks... Think its just a social thing to ask.

I tried but she said they dont messure till 31wks, but she mentioned I was quite small.
He dose kick up a fuss in there but with it being my second I would assume I showed more :/

With my last baby people didn't even realise I was pregnant...

My stomach measured fine & dd was 7'13. Have a chat with your MW but I really wouldn't worry too much.

Dd was dc6...

I'm 5 foot also and nobody knew I was pregnant and I didn't tell them. Dd weighed 7lb 8oz and by the time she was a week old it was as if I had never been pregnant as all my clothes were loose as I had lost weight whilst pregnant because I only put on 7lb. I never put on more than 11lb with all my children though and always left hospital in my normal clothes.

Everyone has been saying that I don't look 38 weeks pregnant (I certainly feel it though!)

This is my 2nd pregnancy and the MW measured my bump from the 28 week appointment, when is your next one?

Bump has been measuring slightly over at every MW appointment, so I must just carry this one very well Wink

I am 40 weeks today and a neighbour i see frequently asked me yesterday if i was expecting as she hadnt noticed.
I wouldnt worry, i have carried both mine small, DD1 was 8lb 6oz and my bump was as small as this 1 so im expecting a baby juts as big. If you are worried ask for a referral for a growth scan.

I have the opposite problem. I'm 21 weeks with dc1, I'm 5'4" and usually a size 10 and my bump seems quite big. I've had many 'hilarious' comments on it, especially as a colleague who is 27 weeks is smaller than me!

Waffles80 · 09/04/2014 17:39

I'm getting this incessantly too! Speak to midwife and ask for better reassurance than they "don't measure till 31". What did the measurements from your scans show? I'm sure your baby is absolutely fine. I'm 29 weeks with twins and have been scanned fortnightly to check for placenta complications - it's been really reassuring to plot their growth but I have found the persistent "are you sure they're twins / you don't look x wks / so-and-so was the size of an elephant at this stage comments" have been rather unhelpful when growth problems are one of the possible complications of a multiple pregnancy.

I had a scan today and MW says that my babies are smaller than average but that their size is healthy and normal. One baby is really low down and slightly diagonal, which is one reason my bump looks smaller (and if you look closely, it's slightly larger on one side).

I wouldn't worry - people with opinions on bump size aren't medical experts (although they're very annoying). But do ask your MW for further reassurance as worrying can't be good at all.

Thank you for reassurance everyone :)
