Has anybody had this or heard of it? I'm looking for more information and it seems a little difficult to find.

I have RA P&P, pregnancy has been a joy as joints are generally good but have been told to expect a flair after delivery which I am not looking forward to.

Blueberry234 · 08/04/2014 19:56

Not sure how P&P got in there

PretzelPrincess · 08/04/2014 21:21

I don't have RA and pregnancy was great for me too but now suddenly I'm so stiff and can't move! Not useful for those mid night feeds!
I don't understand how I can go from being fit and healthy to having RA Confused

It can be triggered by things mine was triggered by rapid weight loss Cons told me it was reactive in nature

I've been diagnosed with spondyloarthritis after DC2. Very random. Was discovered when I was admitted to hospital with scute pancreatitis (due to gall stones) when DS was 7 weeks old. Very stiff neck and back, so far been referred to physio and seeing consultant again in about 3 months.

I'm in my early 20s. Not supposed to have RA so really Sad

Have they said how severe it is pretzel? Have they said what will happen longer term?

PretzelPrincess · 10/04/2014 19:31

No I'm waiting for my app with the rheumatologist. Just a bit worried because I made the mistake of googling. And also the doc seemed worried. Went for my first GP app one day, blood tests the next and results on the third day. GP has never been that efficient! I'm seeing rheumatologist next week so will have to see what they say. Also I'm worried about meds as I'm breastfeeding and don't think there are many I can take.

I have psoriatic arthritis and 3 months boost party I had a huge flare up of some type of arthritis. On 2 crutches couldn't even reach to put hair into a ponytail. Had a baby and a 2 1/2 year old. Was back and forwards to the docs finally went private for MRI and consultant appointments.

Consultant wanted to put me on methotrexate but I refused for 2 reasons. 1 I didn't want to stop breastfeeding so early and 2 I worried that if it was just a pp flare up I would then have committed to these awful drugs that I wouldn't in fact need

I made the right choice. After about 5 months (with steroid injections easing the pain in between) I came out the other side. My knees are still quite weak but other than that I'm great.

It can pass but I'm not sure doctors believe it. I did a breastfeeding deal with the doc that I would delay taking anything stronger than Co Co Damon till I reached a certain date for next appointment thankfully I amazed him that I walked into his office pretty much a different woman.

Sorry couldn't preview on my phone

boost party was post partum

Co Co Damon should read cocodamol

Well hopefully the the rheumatologists can give you some more specialist advice. It's awful not knowing, but mine turned out to be less severe than I expected. Really hope it works out for you and that they can help without resorting to drugs straight off.

Meds wise, hydroxychloraquine (Placquinal) has been my saviour and I have continued it throughout pregnancy as it is deemed safe to and have already checked with the breast feeding network it is safe to feed with. Interestingly I have a history of recurrent mc and it has been used by Mr Shehata to dampen down autoimmune responses which can make the body reject the baby. This pregnancy so far has been ok, am 27 weeks

Hi ladies! I am new to this site but I found it while doing a Google search for postpartum spondyloarthritis! I have also been diagnosed with this auto immune condition and it happened 4 months PP. I am still breastfeeding and since we want more children, I am also limited on treatment options. It took me 2 months to get in with the Rheam doc- even here in the states! Finally I saw his nurse prac and she has been great. I am currently on week 3 of prednisone as well as a systemic steroid shot that helped me feel about 90% better. It was getting to be unbearable. I will start weaning off the pred at the first of the year and if I flare up again, we are also going to try the anti-malaria med since it is safer than any of the other RA-type drugs. That's the basics of my story! Hope this helps you feel like you aren't alone.
