I feel exhausted, can't walk far and just want to sit on the sofa - but DD gets v. bored. Any ideas?

Would it be easier if she had a friend to play with? Sometimes its easier to entertain 2 than 1.

Or if you go to the park/soft play will she play whilst you sit and watch?

Tommy · 21/08/2006 11:20

agree with invite friend over - they always seem to have more fun and will entertain themselves!
CBeebies is always a good bet.....
Do you do baking?

colditz · 21/08/2006 11:23

anything you can sit at a rtable to do - playdoh, drawing, etc

PandaG · 21/08/2006 11:27

jigsaws, drawing, cutting and sticking - old envelopes, magzines etc and a glue stick - not very messy if done at kitchen table - and you can read a magazine while child sticks - mine would do this for quite a while! Second cbeebies/videos for down time in the afternoon - you can doze while they watch.

Have a bath together when I was this pregnant I had a bath with dd most afternoons she loved washing my bump and watching it move and I felt nice and relaxed also!

pepsi · 21/08/2006 11:28

Have you got a laptop? When really tired I take the laptop and dd to bed and go on the cbeebies website.....they even have some stories there that your child can listen to whilst you have a bit of a rest.

Give her a copy of the Argos catalogue -DD used to love cutting out pictures and sticking them onto paper at this age.

fatfox · 22/08/2006 19:22

Mine both love the Argos catalogue too - its their "bible" and they spend hours cutting pics of toys out!!!

Also, just crayons, stickers and paper and ask her to draw you things. Failing that, several Barbie DVDs from the library!

Someone else on here once suggested hairdressing- you lie on the sofa and let the 3 year old do your hair and make you up, stuff like that. Maybe train her to do massages, too?

dabihp · 22/08/2006 20:19

Loads of dvds?

Try The Wizard of Oz and Return to Oz, classics, but great!

Flamesparrow · 22/08/2006 20:37

Washable felt tips... put on old bra and pants, and let her draw on bump, wipe off with babywipes, and start again. Great vbonding with you/her & bump, and a nice massagey ffeling whilst you lay back and relax. Follow it off with a nice bath whilst she pours water over bump.

Ooh, there is a good reading website too that DD loves - just needs some mouse control. Will find link

Flamesparrow · 22/08/2006 20:38

here

Thank you ladies! Cutting up the Argos catalogue proved especially popular, though bits of it are now all over the house! Hey ho. Washable pens are going to be the next plan! CBeebies remains a God-send though I'm feeling a bit guilty about the hours of it that are getting watched!

Flamesparrow, thats brilliant. I now have you to thank for this AND a certain type of nappy

Flamesparrow · 23/08/2006 10:21

D'you think if I get you all to mention me when you order, I can eventually build up points for a free wrap or something???

Elibean · 23/08/2006 10:22

Minko, my dd is a bit younger - 2.8 - but an old sheet thrown over two armchairs seems to provide hours of play as either a castle, a nursery, a hairdressers, a shop, a house, or a school depending on props.

Elibean · 23/08/2006 10:23

FS, I think you should qualify for at least half a dozen. Look out though, they may want to borrow you for an advertising campaign
