Will progesterone suppositories affect a pregnancy test?

currently 5 weeks preg. Had a MMC before, so gynae has given me progesterone suppositories for peace of mind.

I am doing the obsessive thing where you watch the clear blue digital go up from 2-3 weeks to 3+ and wondered if the progesterone would effect that result?

Sorry if I am being really dumb about the chemistry of pregnancy and progesterone is nothing to do with pregnancy results...

No they won't as the test only picks up the hcg hormone.
Congratulations ThanksThanks

Had this chat with my specialist just at the start of this week. You won't get a false reading with the prog pessaries but the downside is you do get symptoms of pregnancy such as sore boobs.

Manda is right - it only picks up level of HCG.

just to add be careful with the clearblue tests, I got a false negative after a certain hcg level with my pregnancy - caused so much heartache thinking it had gone wrong when it hadn't. Progesterone can't interfere with any tests tho.

Was wondering the same thing. I tested very early (day 19) and got a faint positive, and then more faint positives the days after. I started progesterone suppositories as suggested by my fertility doctor. I could tell with so much discharge that the medicine was getting into my urine and was wondering if that was why the tests seemed to be showing a lot lighter of a line. But I am fairly sure it's just because this one isn't working out. :(

Please don’t rely on the ‘weeks counter’ on digital pregnancy tests - they work by measuring a range of hCG for each week and so many things can affect the level of hCG in your urine not least how hydrated or dehydrated you are.

The only way to track if a pregnancy is progressing is by having beta hCG levels in your blood checked over a series of days and this is rarely offered on the NHS unless having fertility treatment so would need to be done privately with the agreement of a medical professional or through a company like medichecks who sell test kits at £40 each.
