BMI woes

I feel like such a failure - I just had my booking in appointment and my BMI was right on the edge and hit 35 - now I'm meant to have consultant appointments, extra intervention a nutritionist appointment a diabetes test. I'm worried I got my height wrong (I was trying to remember my height in cm and I think I might have said 2 too few).

I was pregnant in September last year and weighed 5kg less than this time. Then I had a miscarriage felt like shit and ate a lot and now I'm in their problem category. I feel like such an idiot. Plus I don't really want to say to my partner that I'm now officially really fat (I rather hope she doesn't notice....).

I feel like an idiot. I was so on the threshold... if I'd just laid off the cake this week I'd have been under the crucial number for my whole pregnancy and now I'm in this big risk category.....

Any one else having a plus size pregnancy - how is it going?

I would put your correct weight ad height into the nhs bmi calculator and see if it is now lower than 35 if so you should get it changed.

My bmi is high and as soon as midwife asked I knew she was going to be shocked but she was size 30 so made me feel tons better I felt skinny, my consultant told me off for putting 2lbs on and senior midwife was surprised I hadn't put more on and said I was text book

My BMI was 37 at booking in and the first midwife (who I really didn't like - luckily a locum) was a bit off about it - wouldn't mind but she was hardly a picture of low BMI!! I knew my BMI before I went in so was not shocked at all. They all seemed shocked at my ridiculously low blood pressure.

I have spoken to both the regular midwife and doctor about continuing the diet have been following for the last two years which is Rosemary Conley classes with aerobic session after and all are fine with it - just advised increasing my calories slightly which my RC class leader had already suggested. On the whole its a healthy eating plan not really a diet.

I have an extra consultant appointment but generally my health has been no issue at all so am hoping it will just be a few extra appointments. Some of these stories have made me feel better. I am consultant led due to age and weight.

I have actually lost weight since booking in (was a few days after I got back from hols) so am expecting to be told off for that!

I wouldn't stress too much, sorry, but I don't agree with bmi it doesn't take everything into account like blood pressure, exercise, muscle mass, diet etc, a friend of my who recently gave birth was very active and healthy but got told her bmi was too high (32) due to her height/weight ratio but they didn't take into account she was practically pure muscle.... Minus the adorable baby bulge lol.... I agree with Glenda... I think slapping it on the front page is a bit... Childish?... My bmi is high too, lower than yours but I have lost weight being pregnant due to the ridiculous amount of morning sickness I have, I think I would of been around the same as your self otherwise. Honestly wouldn't worry!! X
