I'm 37+5 and looking for affordable means to feeling less like an utter preggo hippo this week. New clothes are out until I deflate a bit (not wanting to waste good money at this stage in the game), but open to any other ideas costing under £20 each.

So far have tried:

  • Buying 'summer glow' body tanner. can't reach round most of myself, but hoping that I'll wake up tomorrow with the bits I can see looking sunny!
  • Wanted to do a home pedicure, but can't reach, and husband works away during the week and is sadly very willing, but shit at painting nails
  • Going to try surfing for utterly gorgeous feeding bras. Am 30H, so not holding out too much hope, but off to have a look the noo.

Any other ideas? Anything gratefully considered to stop me running down the street screaming! Grin

I've just cleaned out and filled up my make up box with new make up. And the white company have a great sale, just treated myself to my fav candle gift set with shower gel candle and body lotion Smile

Oh and I'm topping up my tan too. 38 wks and feel massive/grumpy

How about having a beauty treatment (pedicure or manicure) at a local training college salon? My local costs about a quarter of what it is in a professional salon and definitely under £20.....

Or get someone to come to your house? I had a mobile beauty therapist come to mine recently and had nails and a back massage

Don't rule out the new clothes :) I'm 31 weeks and got two really nice bandeau maxi dresses from Asda both around £12 each. I went a size up but figured I could also use them whilst in deflate mode as well. Picked up a cheap underwired strapless bra for a fiver as it will be some time before boobs go away too Grin

Also treating myself to some new pants. Won't do tmi but let's just say I can't wait to wear them after the labour and so on is over and put my old ones in the bin.

Or, haircut? My local lady does wash and cuts for £13.I'm also going for a pedicure and a wax.

  1. ACCESSORIES. You can't grow out of a handbag and it won't get baggy when you lose weight.
  2. YOUTUBE MAKE UP TUTORIALS (or hair styling) - they always get me out of a rut, are free (with the hair ones, you don't even need new makeup) and easy.

:) :)

I did my nails last night, it's made me feel 100x better this morning!

I also love accessories, but if I'm honest things like chunky necklaces, scarfs and bracelets just annoy me during pregnancy! I've been buying lots of pretty scarfs though to aid with breast feeding :)

And I agree a nice feeding bra can make all the difference, I currently HATE my maternity bras, they're badly fitting and annoying. I love nothing more than changing into my maternity joggers, an old tshirt of dh's and whipping off my bra in the evening Blush not something to make you feel less fat and more pretty but teamed with some chocolate, icecream or good old carbs it makes me feel better Wink Grin

Cool ideas!

I'm off to buy:

  • New make up bag for a total sort out
  • An online feeding bra as suggested: all my matty ones are manky looking
  • Something accessory-ish. Quite right: at least a necklace will fit afterwards!
  • New pants, as all mine deserve to be burned!

I'm off to do:

  • booking a pedicure at local college (thanks! It costs £6 - waaaay less than the local beauty shop).

Already tried the haircut. Looked better for a day, but now I just feel like a total skank. Found this video, and aspiring to be like this couple, on probably half the income, with a quarter of the good looks!:

I was given a beautiful bath set from the white company, just after I gave birth. I felt so unattractive while in deflate mode. A long soak in a lovely smelling bath and then the matching body lotion made me feel that actually, I can smell good, one day I might actually look good again. (5 months on, I think I'll get there)
