I've had 3 MC's in the last year, my last MC was in February and I haven't had a period yet.. I've done a pregnancy test today and its positive :/ I am really scared that I will have another MC,,
my husband and I really want another child,
can anyone tell me what is the first sign of a MC?
and what can I do to prevent a MC?

Congratulations.

Sadly, there is very little you can do to prevent a miscarriage yourself. There are some things that doctors at specialist clinics can do if they can determine the likely underlying cause. I presume from your post that you aren't seeing a specialist with your history? I think you are at the point where they would start to consider that for you.

There are also very few reliable 'first signs'

Just try and go gentle with yourself, rest lots and wait and see

First of all: did you get a negative test before this positive? I have had retained materials (literally a fingernail size blob) that kept my HCG at 300+ for several months. If you have not, mention this to your GP.

If you did, congratulations. :)

Because you have had 3 losses, you are entitled to testing on the NHS and should have been given information which - from your post- you haven't been. This cannot be done while pregnant but it would be entirely reasonable to ask your GP for early scans to help calm your fears.
I'm guessing from your questions that your GP hasn't been very forthcoming with this information, or any information, on your losses. A good place to start is The Miscarriage Association website and the books 'Miscarriage' by Lesley Regan and 'Coming to Term' by Jon Cohen.

The blood tests are the only things that (maybe: 50/50) explain recurrent miscarriage and offer solutions. Otherwise, bar the usual sensible things like not drinking, it is just down to fate.

Likewise, there is no one way a miscarriage happens. In my experience, they tend to happen the same way often to the same person (so missed/silent for one person, pains for another etc') so seek medical help if you get similar symptoms to before.

What Squiz means is with later miscarriages normally they offer you a d & c which is an operation in which they dilate the cervix and remove all pregnancy related tissue via your cervix. If they don't manage to remove it all or if you don't have one and it doesn't all come out by itself then your HCG levels may not fall completely until it is either removed or eventually comes out by itself.

But if you've had a negative test then you're fine and you are pregnant :)

Alita my retained materials were from a loss at 7 weeks so quite early - like you before that I always thought it only happened later - it is best always to check. :)

But once there's a negative, it means the next positive is a good one! :)

Oh right you got me scared then lol... all 3 of my miscarriages happened at 8/9 weeks so I am GOING to be on Edge until then :(.. I'm so scared it will happen again. has anyone had 2 miscarriages in a row and had a successful pregnancy? I need some reassurance.. PLEASE......

teasler after 2 consecutive losses 80%+ of women then have a success with no further medical intervention. :) Even after 3, the figure is 70% ... and after 5, 50% (below which it never falls).

Which shows that especially if there's no 'reason' bar age or bad luck, the outlook is good. :)
