What's your baby going to be sleeping in..

During the day in the living room etc and at night in your bedroom?
I don't want a Moses basket, so was going to buy a crib, I was going to use this in the living room, then use the cotbed in the bedroom. But i think I like the idea of a crib in the bedroom instead, so I can get it right up to the bed, so for easiness at night, so would I then have the cotbed in the living room? Will that look silly? What do you use / do you think you are you going to use?
I was also thinking that when baby grows out of crib, but not old enough to have naps in different room to me, what do I use then? I've got a travel cot, with a bassinet layer, so can I use this? What did you use / do you think you are you going to use?

Babies grow out of cribs too quick so as long as your prepared for it to not last long. I would put combed in bedroom to keep the baby used to it upstairs. A cot bed in living room would look a bit cramped. I love Moses baskets so small for living room use but it's your choice really

Mine (5 weeks) sleeps on me or in the V of my V-shaped breastfeeding pillow. Not what I had planned...

DS slept in the pram downstairs and co-sleeper cot upstairs til he was 6 months. After that he was in a cot bed.

My newborn will sleep on me or in a sling, I had a lovely little crib for ds and he never slept in it, it was really useful for storing clean washing in ;)

We have a Moses basket for downstairs, a cotbed in baby's room (that we aren't planning on using for a while) and I bought a 2nd hand cot to fit in the gap between my side of the bed and the wall which will become a sort of co sleeping scenario as we will be very close but the drop side of the cot will avoid the co sleeping issues. Same thinking as you, thought it would make things easier with settling and feeding during thd nights. Also Moses basket will fit in the cot so will be able to put him in there if it works out that way

Mine sleeps in a cot bed at night since day one and during the day either on me or in his pram. He is 6 1/2 month and still fits in it. But I bought a travel cot with bassinet for when he outgrows his pram, plus in 6 1/2 month we are expecting Dc2 so the baby will sleep then in the pram during the day and at night in the cot bed. DS will be moved then to his own bedroom in a toddler bed that my husband build

Used a crib in living room ( mothercare non rocking basic one they sell for about £30) - used until around 8/9 months each time

I'm a bit confused why a cotbed can't go against the bed - or do you mean that the gap between wall and bed is physically not wide enough?

I think a cotbed in the living room is a bit odd, and unlikely to get enough use to be worth it. If you want the baby with you for naps, a moses basket you can move from room to room, or a suitable bouncy chair, are probably more practical. Surely you won't sit in the living room for the duration of naps?

We have a basket downstairs and in our room an nct bednest, a cosleeping crib - you can do a 6 month hire for £99 includes new mattress and sides plus delivery/pick up and it's great

My 3 month old DS sleeps in his pram carrycot downstairs.

And we have an NCT bednest upstairs.

I have a moses basket, but would have used a cot/cotbed if I hadn't been given it for free. I would take one side off the cot/cotbed and have it right up to the bed. I do remember DS1 appearing to really like his moses basket though, I think they like the feeling of being enclosed as it reminds them of the womb!
Downstairs DS1 used to sleep in a bouncy chair type thing (one that was quite flat) or a giant beanbag, or the sofa, or his dad . I plan to put the next one in the pram to sleep (a lie flat one) though, as I can then strap baby in and DS1 may have less change of causing it damage
Think cotbed in the living room fine if you've got the space, but I liked having the option of moving DS1 around, so he was normally in the same room as me.
I would avoid buying much though, and experimenting a bit once baby arrives, you can also get something extra if you need it.

We are getting a Moses basket, so no help in that department. During the day the plan is for baby to sleep either in the mamaroo or the pram carrycot. We have a normal sized cot, not a cotbed, for when baby outgrows the Moses basket, but our hope is for that to be when baby goes into her own room.

Were having just cotbed in bedroom :) settee with pillow is for day time, my parents did this with all of us lot and never hurt us :) xx

Cocoonababy! It's fab. We bought a cot, crib ANDDDD Moses basket (don't ask...). We're given the cocoon as a present and that's where DS has been most comfy

IKEA Gulliver cot, side-carred to the bed. We live in a 1-bed flat and have no space (or need) for a Moses basket, cot and carrycot. Daytime probably a mix of cot/carrycot/pushchair.

I am going to use our bedside cot for upstairs and pram for downstairs. I was given the pram and had the cot from the last baby so I didn't want to buy anything else. Also, I'm having a section and bedside cot will give me easiest access at night. x

We had a crib for our bedroom and then the carrycot for downstairs but to be honest I just transfer her upstairs to her bed.

However, dd would only sleep in her carrycot which resulted in me buying a Moses basket (which i have put in the crib) which is off the floor and she now sleeps like a dream!

I'd just say don't make any investments til the baby is here and you know where they will chose to sleep

DD had a crib and and a Moses basket, but wouldn't sleep in either and ended up sleeping in a sling during the day and in my bed at night. By about 8 months she'd sleep in the pram downstairs during the day.

This time I'm more prepared and have just yesterday adapted a normal
cot to make it into a cosleeper type thing (so I have a bit more space in bed!) and have dug my sling out of the drawer. Ho hum....

I'll be using a one sided cot up against the bed at night so I can cosleep.

Day time will most likely be naps in my arms. We have a rocking cradle (which is huge) and that will be in the kitchen on the off chance that the baby is a good sleeper. The last two were only happy in my arms so I'm not holding out much hope there.

Someone has given us a crib for the bedroom (as did someone last time) and we have a Moses basket for the living room. It's handy not to cart the basket round the house and just pop them down, but by no means essential initially to have more than one thing. We still have DD's cot for when baby outgrows them, but we're not using it straight away to save space. The crib is costing us zilch (apart from new mattress) so not a waste of money.

We have a moses basket which ds has always napped in downstairs (when he isn't napping on me!)

A friend lent us a crib for our room but ds didn't like it at first - think it felt too big to him. So we put his moses basket in it until he was 8 weeks when he started getting too big for the basket. He went in the crib no problem then for about two weeks at which point he was waking himself up when moving his arms at night.

So he went into his cot bed at 10 weeks and sleeps really well in it. We use a sleeping bag for him so that keeps him feeling cosy

We didn't buy an expensive moses basket and I'm glad because ds is very long and outgrew it quickly but it was useful as we didn't have a carrycot pram.

If you can borrow a crib from a friend or relative I would do so incase baby doesn't like it or grows out of it quickly x

We had one cot upstairs and one cot downstairs for our twins. IMO moses baskets are a waste of money.

Our plan is to use a moses basket (that we already have for my nephew staying over) downstairs and the mothercare £40 crib next to my side of the bed for the night time. I understand they outgrow moses baskets quite quickly and the crib is not suitable after 6months. I am imagining at the 6 month point we will get a proper cot bed and baby will sleep in it's own room but planning to see how we go really.

First baby so not really sure what to expect and learning a lot from this thread. Never occurred to me baby would just nap on you! So naive!
