Mine is 39+0 (15th April :-)). That's the earliest my consultant would agree to. But other hospitals I know allow 38+. Am I being fobbed off?

I'm booked for 14.4 (39wks). I was also told its because of best outcome for baby's lung function. Here it used to be 38wks but guidelines have sinced changed.

Booboostoo · 28/03/2014 09:33

Mine was planned for 39+3 as I was told this was safest for the baby (possible breathing problems before then) but my waters broke at 38+3 so it was all done that morning.

Im booked in for next Wednesday, I will be 38+0. However I have placenta Previa/accreta and they are too scared to leave it any longer than that. I was initially booked in for 39 weeks Smile

The standard at my hospital is 39+ I've had three elective sections, one at 38, one at 37+, and the last one at exactly 37 weeks (I had steroids with that one). I have high risk pregnancies - my one non-ELCS delivery was an emergency section at 36 weeks.

Mine is 38+6 as the hospital only do elcs on certain days but have been told if my spd etcgets worse they will bring forward! Imo my dates are wrong and elcs is on babys due date, they have said if I go into labour naturally they will leave me to labour! With spd its going to be insane my h2b is rather concerned about the natural option as I suffered so badly

Tea1Sugar · 06/04/2014 15:52

9 sleeps until mine :D I'll be 39+0

penguins Or simply because you don't fancy the idea of labour? That's why I'm having an elcs. I'm not starting a TV series anytime soon, I would just rather be in control and avoid the 5% incontinence risk. Pretty judgemental point you made there. It doesn't need to be ludicrous or medical, with no middle ground.

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs · 07/04/2014 19:43

Ps OP I'm booked in for 39+0 for the reasons given by PPs. Apparently lung function is much more reliable at week 39' which made sense to me.

ItsSpringBaby · 07/04/2014 22:01

38+2 (by NHS dates). No health reason for it (though there technically it now, it was arranged before this), I originally requested one for fear of damaging my pelvic floor after two large babies.

I'm seeing my cons on Friday to discuss it.

had a traumatic 1st delivery and the mw at booking in referred me to him.
I've seen his registrar, but not him yet.

I'm 34 weeks and dreading it, that he will say no!
His registrar said if he did say no to see another consultant, and that they don't like women being so anxious at that stage in pregnancy, but im still petrified!

our trust is 39 weeks too

isitme1 · 08/04/2014 15:23

Its 39 weeks for elcs as during vaginal delivery when baby is being pushed out the chest is being squeezed so that fluid is brought up and its easier for baby to breathe. During elcs none of that squeezing happens...that's what I was told by consultant

Hi, I am booked in on 15th may, and will be 39+2 , very nervous , had 2 sections already but still cracking myself !!
