How old were you when you had your first planned pregnancy?

Pointless survey! Just interested how as a group MN lies - for me was 24, and was 24 when ds was born.

I was 35 when I got pg (planned) and 36 when I had DS

19 & 20 when ds was born.

Told my family it was unpplanned though

Both very planned at 31 and 34.

Dd planned at 29, came along when I was 30

No unplanned pg's

Thought about it seriously for the first time about 11 wks ago, now 9+3 and 31.

19, am pregnant now, unplanned infact came as a shock cause used protection.

1st planned 38yo M/C
2nd planned 38yo - twins born when I was 39yo

34 with dd1 and now 36 (31 wks with ds due in October), glad I left it til later. Only think I would have had more energy if I had been younger!

31 planned.

got pregnant at 19, 20 now. woz planned.

First planned pregnancy at 33 - I thought I would be an 'old' mum but ended up being one of the younger mums at my antenatal classes.

Based on this thread and an earlier 'how old were you when you had your first child?' thread, on average MNers are:

27y 7mo at birth of first child if the pregnancy was planned
22y 6mo at birth of first child if the pregnancy was unplanned

24 concieved (planned)
25 when baby born

19 - DD was born 4 days before my 20th birthday and she was completely planned

I'm really interested to know how all these unplanned pregnancies happened. Are we talking contraception failure, or just 'forgot'? Both my friends boys were unplanned (although very welcome!) and I've never really asked ...how?

(For the record, my ds is now 5 months and I'm a teeny bit terrified am pg at the mo!!!! Will be due to contraception failure if I am!)

microgynen 30 failed for me at 17 when i had my lovely ds who is now 7

Iv'e used Mycrogynen 30 since I was 16 and never had an unplanned pregnancy but I suppose diferent sorts of contraception effect people differently. I know many people who have had unplanned pregnancies who swear blind they have followed the instructions on their contraceptive to the letter.
