Relax, and try to enjoy and remember everything (much like a wedding day), have you got a tens machine?, some people would recommend you take some water and something to eat if you can manage it & a Paracetamol. There are lots of ladies here for you until your other half gets home and we all know exactly how you feel. xxx

That was lovely mommyplonk.

How are you aprilgirl?

Sparkler1 · 16/08/2006 23:50

try and rest as much as you possibly can - you will need it for labour and for being a new mum in the first few months. Just be warned though, things can happen very quickly when they are ready to so make sure you have everything you need to hand when it's time to go into hospital. Look forward to looking back on here tomorrow to see if there's any news.

aprilgirl1 · 16/08/2006 23:51

myturn · 16/08/2006 23:52

Hey, you won't be the first to think you are in labour and be mistaken and you certainly won't be the last!! Just take it as it comes and don't worry about asking for advice.

aprilgirl1 · 16/08/2006 23:54

Just read this thread, dont be sorry in anyway, we were all in this position once I got in ambulance 3 separate times thinking I was in labour with my son and he was my second!! Take it easy and try and stay as calm as possible, we're all here for you if you can still manage to type and read! Thinking of you and sending supportive hugs!

fattiemumma · 16/08/2006 23:55

im glad your Dp is coming home. if its not tonight it will be early morning and if he's tired froma nightshift he will miss the wonders that are childbirth.

Try and remember all this as you will want to relay it all to your child as s/he grows up.

if you can get some sleep do, as much of it as you can...it'll be your last for a while lol.
As i said earlier, if the pain is bearable you have some time to go...when it gets to the stage your screaming at your Dp to just get you painkillers or you'll rip his head off.....its time to go in!

aww dead excited for you, leave the PC on so DP can give us an update.

brimfull · 16/08/2006 23:56

aprilgirl1 · 17/08/2006 10:03

what a night, had the most terrible pains through the night didnt actually get to sleep until 5, got all i can explain as the worst period type cramp ever but the contractions have slowed right down last few were about 15 mins apart... has it been a false alarm do you think? or am i just in for a slow one? x

Sparkler1 · 17/08/2006 10:05

Hello - I wondered how you were. Sorry for my drunken state last night. . You say you are overdue so anything could happen now. Did your DP come home last night in the end?

BrookeandTaylorsmummy · 17/08/2006 10:07

Well to me it certainly sounds as if something is happening, I'd get in touch with the labour ward and see if they can check you over if you are at all worried, if you are more comfortable at home stay there and see if your midwife can come and see you, just for a little bit of real life reassurance, thinking of you and sending you hugs xx

aprilgirl1 · 17/08/2006 10:08

yeah but was pretty useless, feel like i have wasted his time, as you know he si a qualified midwife you know (NOT) and he is insisting that its the head engaging! how murder wasnt committed last night i'll nevr know! he's in bed now just incase he's got night shift again tonight ( poor bugger has it so hard) x

at your dh..!! He should be greatful you called him as some women would rather labour alone or with a friend that dh/dp..!

LOL at him trying to get some sleep due to a nightshift..what does he think will happen once baby arrives..!!!???? NO SLEEP...Thats what..!!!

"Men have it so hard"...MMmmmmm whatever ..!

Good luck. xx

mummyplonk · 17/08/2006 12:22

Lol @ SHHH, Try to relax today Aprilgirl it definately sounds like you'll be having your baby very soon. Ds2 was born 3 months ago I was up all night timing contractions until about 4am then they slowed down, went to sleep and woke in the morning with nothing went to bed the next night a woke up with a bang at midnight with much stronger ones and had baby that night. Apparantly this is quite common so it maybe that you are dilating slowly in which case be pleased, thats far far better that having it happen quickly.

Period type pains do sound like the early stages, these will eventually ramp up to more of a feeling of cramp in your tummy (if you have ever had it in your leg you will understand that you can feel it before it comes on as well giving you time to start breathing very deeply which should help)

sending you lots of hugs

Sparkler1 · 18/08/2006 23:44

I wonder if there's any news.

myturn · 18/08/2006 23:49

Was just wondering the same.

mummy115 · 19/08/2006 08:38
