Exactly that really! I am 30 weeks and can hardly believe baby (my first!) will be here in 10 weeks or so. How would you recommend I spend my last trimester or what do you recommend I do before baby arrives?

I know a lot of people would say sleep... But if I could rewind time I would do things I can't do with my baby around. And babies do sleep quite a lot (or at least some of the time!) so I never found it hard to have joint naps with them Wink

I would go to the cinema, watch adult TV (walking dead, I can only watch this late at night now and even then worry about my toddler hearing it!) have my nails done, have my hair done...

But actually, you will do all this stuff again so don't panic too much Grin

take each day as it comes. Im at 32 weeks now and I'v just started the whole breathlessness and baby kicking into ribs.

So don't plan too much in advance would be my advice and plan lots of rest in amongst things. This trimester is going to be physically challenging and doing some things too strenously can bring on labour ;)

I went on my maternity leave at 30 weeks was worn out and wanted time before baby was born to get stuff sorted. My job meant I couldn't get much done before hand

So once I was off I've decorated nursery, met up with friends and family for coffee.
Make sure I meet friends or fam every week it passes the time away. Done lots of nesting getting to house sorted.
I've been off for 9 weeks now and loved every min of it.

Now I'm 36 weeks spd is crippling me my bladder constantly needs empty and I'm exhausted, so I'm glad I had time off before I felt like this.

Hope your enjoy time off before baby arrives Grin

I'm 33 weeks now, will be having an ELCS in 5/6 weeks time so I plan on not doing very much and enjoy having a chance to put my feet up while DP and DS get stuck in to the house work! Been off work with horrendous SPD since 17 weeks so I've been pottering about getting babies stuff ready, supervising DP decorate the nursery (obviously a very important job ;-) ) going for lunch (thank god for crutches!) once a week with family/friends and me and DP are making the most of our quiet time together while we can :-) a lot of people would say sleep but we all know that's near on impossible the further on we get!

Enjoy your time before baby comes, will be here before you know it :-)

Rest. Take naps in the day. Read books. That's what I'd planned to do for the first 2 weeks of maternity leave ... But he decided to come just after I finished work.

Cinema is a good one. And enjoy being able to leave the house with a key and a five pound note. That's not likely to happen for a while :-)

SomethingOnce · 21/03/2014 22:06

I was going to say the same as lockie; enjoy just popping out on a whim with your keys, phone and money.

Soon you'll need at least a medium-sized bag of bits and half the time you'll have to backtrack to do a nappy change just as you were about to step out of the door Grin

weebigmamma · 21/03/2014 22:11

Yes I'd also second 'take it easy' :-) If you feel like cleaning, clean. If you feel like cooking lots of food in batches to freeze it, do that. If you feel like chilling the heck out and watching loads of films with your feet up, definitely do that! :-)

stopeatingbiscuits · 21/03/2014 22:12

Sleep.

Sleep some more.

Have a nap.

Sleep.

Pobblewhohasnotoes · 21/03/2014 22:24

Batch cook and fill up your freezer! It's the most helpful thing when you've got a newborn to just be able to heat some food up.

orangemouth281 · 22/03/2014 04:50

I agree with the batch cooking, my baby is 6 weeks old and I still haven't cooked a meal yet!

weebairn · 22/03/2014 06:56

See all your mates! Have massages :) Nest. Read. Treat yourself.

hubbahubster · 22/03/2014 13:50

Cinema. Dinner with DP on a whim after 7pm. Potter around Primark at your leisure and then stop for coffee and cake. Luxury!

DH and I actually see taking a day off to go to IKEA while DS is at the childminder as a date nowadays...

cjbk1 · 22/03/2014 16:02

I would always say Sleep too because although you can't 'bank sleep' you'll regret not being as rested as possible once baby arrives IME Wink

qazxc · 22/03/2014 16:29

Do all the stuff you aren't going to be able to do/do as easily.
On my list are:
enjoy going to toilet/have a bath uninterrupted or listening out for baby crying.
Have a meal out
Go to cinema
Have a browse around shops, stop for coffe + cake
Read a book
get hair cut/beauty stuff done

elliebe13 · 22/03/2014 16:34

I watched netflix, organised all my clothes and clutter. Have lie ins every day. One thing I wish id done and will next time is cook massive pots of stuff and freeze it so I would have nice meals during the few weeks post birth when I was stuck in bed breastfeeding Smile

moomin35 · 24/03/2014 12:00

Thanks all, great suggestions, keep them coming :-)

I'm 27 weeks so this has been v enlightening :)
We are moving house though so i'm sure that'll keep me v busy!!
Top of my list though is to spend time with my friends- i just know i wont have as much time for girlie lunches and stuff once my little darling arrives. On that note must email them all now to arrange something for this weekend..
