Congrats writer! My experience was like yours more or less word for word, its a surreal experience isnt it!?
My little tike was 9,4 so he took some tugging and pushing out and it took over an hour from start to end, but all is worth it.
Enjoy your little man xxx

Congratulations, and thanks for updating, writer

Congratulations glad you and baby are well :)

Congratulations! I've also seen you around a lot on here, how are you feeling? Were you up and about quickly and are you nicely mobile now? Lots of questions from someone who has it all to come here!

Writerwannabe83 · 26/03/2014 11:05

Thanks everyone!!!

thisismyfirsttime - after my CS I was kept in bed for over 24 hours (circumstantial I think as opposed to that actually being the intended plan) but I think it worked in my favour as I'm recovering really well!!! It was very sore when I first got out of bed but now, 4 days later after first getting up, I'm nearly back to myself. I'm just taking paracetamol and Diclofenac as needed for pain relief but I can go absolute hours without any. I'm up and down the stairs, mobilising around the house etc and feeling fine. I don't plan to go for any actual outdoor walks for a while as I don't want to push it, but in general I'm doing well.

I'm feeling pretty crap in other ways though as breastfeeding is proving to be quite a challenge so I'm pouring my heart out in the Breast Feeding Forum - I'm getting loads of good advice and support though which is helping. I'm still in tears most days though. I'm hoping it's just hormones.

My elcs is 3 weeks today. I'm petrified. I want a general anaesthetic :-(

Writerwannabe83 · 26/03/2014 12:27

Is it your first one??

You can always PM me if you want to talk about anything or want reassurance etc Flowers

Second baby but first section. I suffer from extreme anxiety. The idea of being numb scares me, I can't cope with not being in control. The sickness and blood pressure drop associated with the spinal. In fact the whole procedure :(

Writerwannabe83 · 26/03/2014 12:44

I completely understand your anxiety - I was very excited in the morning but when the time actually came for me to walk into the theatre I was so nervous. My DH couldn't be with me whilst I had the spinal put in but the staff were really supportive. I was put on a drip to control blood pressure before the spinal was put in and I didn't have any problems. I had to be given 2 extra shots of a drug because my womb wasn't contracting and was warned it may cause nausea but I was fine. Being numb was very unnerving for me and for the duration of the procedure felt more apprehensive than I was excited - it was extremely surreal. I just couldn't relax until the whole thing was over - even when baby arrived I still felt on edge and just wanted to get into Recovery as it felt like it would be a milestone that the procedure was finished. My Spinal didn't actually fully wear off for about 9 hours which surprised me.

Have you asked your anaesthetist about having a general? When I had my pre-op appointment about a week before my CS the first question he asked me was did I want to be awake or asleep for the procedure. The only reason I opted to be awake was because if I'd had a GA it meant that my DH wouldn't have been able to be there and I didn't want to think of our baby being born and him not having either parent to be there with him. As soon as baby was born he was given straight to my DH for skin-to-skin and he was placed under my DH's theatre top and stayed there for an hour - it was really lovely to see and I'm glad it was something the baby got to experience for reassurance and comfort after having been dragged out into the world. I was sad the initial skin-to-skin couldn't be with me but I'd far rather he have cuddles with his dad than be on his own had I chosen to have had a GA.

That's lovely that they let the baby's dad have skin to skin. I hope my hospital does that too. I am really nervous about having my section (2 weeks from today) but your story has helps, thank you!

Dony worry or get too upset over breastfeeding its bloody hard work, I couldnt do it with all three of mine! Glad your getting support though.

Hope your enjoying cuddles with your little man x

peeapod · 26/03/2014 14:12

6 weeks til mine eek. Im going to be asking the antehinist and at the pre op to have some anti aniexty drugs standing by. Just enough to take the edge off without it affecting my ability to be there..
Worth mentioning because they can put it in the drip.. You can chose how sedated you are then..

Purplefrogshoes · 26/03/2014 23:16
