Getting startled...

Might be a really daft question but does it harm the baby if I suddenly get startled or jump suddenly? My DP was asleep and he suddenly screamed really loud, (was having nightmare apparently!) I was asleep and woke up with a huge jump, like it literally scare the s**t out of me. I felt I sudden pain in my abdomen, it's not there now, but I think it's because I jerked up really quick. My concern is scaring or harming my baby, which may sound totally ridiculous but thought I'd ask!

No. The baby will be fine.

I used to worry about the same as I'm a real jumpy person and I read somewhere that adrenaline isn't good for the baby. I'm now just over 37 weeks and all good despite being occasionally startled :-)

Someone I knew had been told that if you get a sudden shock when pregnant you turn your baby gay!! Goodness knows where she got that from. She refused to go to a firework display for this reason. Grin

Lol at the gay thing! I'm 33 weeks and baby jumps if there's a loud noise which startled me!
