Can only think of liver/pate and soft cheese - is there anything else I should stay clear of??

I know I should know all of this - I have been pregnant before!!

ANd I know there will be threads but my PC takes so long to load them!!

The only things I don't eat are the ones you mention. I read that you shouldn't eat parma ham after having it for my dinner twice in a week, but I think you can go a bit mad with all these 'bans'. Also discovered that bagged salads are bad too, ffs.

Runny eggs maybe, but am off them anyway blurrghh.

Sorry can't think of anymore.

lydialemon · 11/03/2004 14:56

Tinned tuna, because of the mercury levels? Anything with raw or lightly cooked eggs ie posh mayo!

FairyMum · 11/03/2004 14:58

I think you can eat tuna as long as you don't eat 200 tins a day. Everything in moderation I think and you and baby will be just fine!

monkeygirl · 11/03/2004 14:59

Peanuts should be avoided if you have a family history of allergies.
Alot of soft cheeses are ok, it's just the mould ripened ones like brie, camembert and stilton.
Anything with raw eggs (certain ice-creams/mousses/cheesecakes).
I'm sure there are other things but as oliveoil said I think you could drive yourself mad if you followed the 'banned' list in this country.

What you need to know is what's on the must eat list - chocolate of course (but what I really need is an emoticon sticking out its tongue especially for my disapproving mw)

motherinferior · 11/03/2004 15:00

Basically, girl, anything you enjoy is dicey

oliveoil · 11/03/2004 15:02

Soft Mr Whippy type ice-cream I have read is a no-no, the hard scoop stuff is ok. Not that I see any ice-cream vans anymore anyway.

bundle · 11/03/2004 15:06

here is some advice from the Food Standard's Agency about fish

Twinkie · 11/03/2004 15:13

Also what about Boursin?? - My fave on Ryvita Crackers!!

Sorry to sound like a complete numbscull but I think I am losing my marbles - god last time this didn't happen till I was really fat - there is noooo hope for me!! Give it a couple of weeks and I'll start walking into things!!

OP posts:
oliveoil · 11/03/2004 15:14

I used boursin to replace my usually stinky blue chees for my parma ham wrapped chicken dinner. But it was cooked then.

Twinkie · 11/03/2004 15:14

Twinkie, it is very important you take notice of monkeygirls post (2:59:17 PM) especially the line that says "Anything with raw eggs (certain ice-creams/mousses/cheesecakes)."

And I didn't put her upto it

Twinkie · 11/03/2004 15:27

I don't really like eggs - have one on a Saturday at the CAFF fried with my bacon, mushrooms and tomatoes and maybe a boiled one on Sunday mornings but it is always nearly hard boiled cause I can't be doing with the snot stuff round the edge - it makes me heave - uuurrgghhh!!!

I am not abstaining from baked cheesecake though Madame Kayleigh if that is what you are getting at??? Think I may even have 2 pieces next time we meet - because I can!!

OP posts:
Kayleigh · 11/03/2004 15:31

Damn.

If there's only one piece of cheesecake left on the trolley you're going to have to fight me for it. There are no concessions to pregnant women when cheesecake's at stake

donnie · 11/03/2004 15:31

oliveoil, what is wrong with the bagged salads? you've got me worried....!

Twinkie · 11/03/2004 15:32

I am sure the rest of our group will agree that I need it more than you!!!! - strength in pregnant women numbers I do think!!!

And would you hit a pregnant woman - well s'pose there could be some jostling he he he - get out of the way that cheesecake is mine - I will win though I will lick my finger and stick it right in the top - oooohhh how childish am I today!!

OP posts:
oliveoil · 11/03/2004 15:34

donnie - no idea, think you should rinse them first or something, but to me the whole point is GETTING THEM OUT OF THE BAG AND SHOVING THEM ON A PLATE and not having to faff.

bundle · 11/03/2004 15:35

salmonella, apparently donnie

Kayleigh · 11/03/2004 15:35

I will spit on it before you have time to stick your finger in.

Spit beats finger, neh neh neh neh neh

oliveoil · 11/03/2004 15:36

really? Oh god, knew I should have ignored this thread

oliveoil · 11/03/2004 15:36

That was for bundle not your finger habits!

aloha · 11/03/2004 15:49

The US food standards agency now says mould ripened cheeses are OK if they are made with pasteurised milk...incredible isn't it?

soft processed cheeses such as Boursin etc are always fine.

LucyJones · 11/03/2004 15:49

Anyone know if crunchy nut cornflakes are okay to eat or do they come under peanuts? TIA
