Stuffy nose

Hiya,

I'm only 5w2d but was curious to know whether the stuffy/runny nose I've had for the last 3 weeks could be an early pregnancy symptom? I feel absolutely fine in myself, certainly don't feel like I have a cold or hay fever, so it seems coincidental.

Also, most of my other pregnancy symptoms have stopped and I'm hopeful this is a sign things are still progressing!!

I'm 22+2 and my nose is still annoying me!

I believe some call it the pregnancy sniffles! Something to do with your nose expanding width ways which causes it to run/get stuffy.

You can take Loratadine (antihistamine) whilst pregnant for a runny nose.

I did think about loratadine, which might have the added bonus of helping me to sleep past 3am!

Sat here with a tissue stuffed up one nostril...

Yeah I have a massively snotty nose. Didn't know loratadine was OK, thanks for the tip.

I had this from very early on in my pregnancy through to the end......Frustrating to say the least!

I had this basically from conception with my dd, and it lasted right up until maybe a day after she was born, it was a nightmare, I'm 18 weeks now and it's already getting on my nerves!!!

fellow sniffler here! horrible isn't it Confused I've already got a overly sensitive nose, and still at nearly 37 weeks it's stayed put Envy not a happy bunny, I sound like a fog horn when I blow my nose Blush

My midwife told me no antihistamines during pregnancy (I get occasional hayfever) so maybe check before you take anything.

I haven't had a runny nose but have had an itchy/dry nose all through pregnancy (30 weeks now) with occasional blood due to the hormones (apparently quite common), I found sterimar saline spray quite helpful just to clean it a bit. It's salt water so no drugs.

Says on NHS website that some oral antihistamines are safe during pregnancy, but to check with your GP:

I was pg last year and took Asda one-a-day hayfever relief tablets (loratadine) most days, for my perennial allergic rhinitis.
