Gardening when pregnant

I'm to say that I've let our garden grow to forest proportions! So H and I have embarked on what will be a two week project of sorting it out. We managed to cut some foliage about 6ft in length and it has filled our green wheelie bin already (we've probably got another 5 of them to go! - and some are worse than that). We had to stop as it was getting darker and the midges were out in force!

Anyway, my question is this ... I'm not likely to catch anything nasty from doing the gardening am I?! I know about toxiplasmosis (or whatever it's called) - so I have been wearing gardening gloves. We have two cats, and they use the garden as their loo.

What should/shouldn't I be doing?

Thanks!

I think as long as you wear gloves you shold be OK. It is the cat poo in the soil that's the danger.

Smanfer71 - I was pg last summer and wore gloves for everything in the garden. What stopped me in my tracks was my hayfever when I was raking in about the plants weeding and the like. I was allowed to take Piriton but it was worse than useless and knocked me for six with sleepiness. But if you don't suffer hayfever, then you should be fine. Just be sensible about heavy lifting.

Thank you both - no chance of overdoing it, but I did want to make the garden nice, without risk to baby/me.

I don't suffer from hayfever, but my H does - I really feel for him when it's bad.
