No baby movement at 24 weeks

Hi everyone, Im pregnant with my first and almost 24 weeks. Im really not sure that I have felt any baby movements, yet this is the time Ive heard you are supposed to really notice them. I am slightly worried and not due to see midwife for another week and a half. Is there anything I could do to try and bring on a movement? Any suggestions?

was your placenta at the front (anterior) when u had your scan? this can really affect how much you feel movements. Things to try though - cold glass of water lying on your left side or basically changing positions.

When you're with your midwife she can try and have a listen for the heartbeat xx

My last midwife appointment was a few weeks ago and she confirmed a hearbeat and nothing in particular mentioned at 20 week scan, seemed everything ok/normal.

It could be that you just haven't felt much (I didn't until quite late on) but this is definitely something that you can call the hospital about and ask for a sooner appointment. They won't mind at all.

I didn't feel anything with my first until 24 weeks. If you're worried though you should talk to your midwife.

No harm to get a check up with gp/ mw to reassure yourself.
From your post I think you re saying you ve never felt movements - right?
If you are saying that but have had check ups where everything has been ok then it s prob ok I d guess. If you re saying you ve felt regular movements but they have stopped and you re concerned I d probably get checked out if you have done the usual trick of sitting still/ lying down having a drink of iced water/ something sugary. Hopefully someone else a little more qualified will be along shortly to reassure you. X

Have a look in your notes about the scan as it might mention whether your placenta is anterior (at the front) which can really slow down when you feel movements.

I had an anterior placenta and didn't feel anything til 22 weeks or so (definitely after my 20 week scan).

Surely there is a copy of your scan report in your notes? It should mention placenta position.

as mentioned above, if you have an anterior placenta it will affect you feeling movement. I've had a 21 week scan where baby was wriggling a lot but could feel nothing.

Also as it is your first you might be feeling something but not recognising it as movement.
Or your baby might be most active when you won't notice (when you're moving around or fast asleep).
Do ring up if you are concerned though.

Thanks everyone, later last night in bed I am sure i did feel a movement. However a strange thing happened later on. I was nice and toasty in bed sleeping and woke up in the middle of the night shivering and teeth were chattering uncontrollably for about 10 mins. Was very strange. never thought anything of it until husband googled it and got me worried it could be a sign of low blood pressure. Phoned midwife and she told me not to worry!
