Washing powder /softner

Hi. Sorry if this has been asked many times before... First time mum to be with baby due in 3 weeks so trying to get everything sorted!

I presume for washing baby clothes any non-bio powder is ok? We use persil non-bio so guessing I'm ok to use that for baby clothes too?

What about fabric conditioner? I tend to use one of the Comfort ones normally, am I ok to use this for baby clothes too?

I was using fabric con for baby and I've had really bad eczema. We ran out one day and I just never bothered buying again... My eczema has cleared up completely. Not 100% sure but it's the only change I made at the time. Dh heard of a connection too on the radio. I'd never use it again. Yep, all brands of non bio are recommended

I've done the first load of my little lady's laundry today- in fairy non bio with fairy fabric softner. All seems very soft and all smells lovely!! :-)

I'd use a non-bio washing powder but leave the fabric softener, it's highly perfumed and just added chemicals you don't really need in baby's clothing.

Agree not to use softener. Fairy actually makes me itch, so I use a brand called Surcare.

After years of using fairy, dh got the cheap Sodi brand one day much to my annoyance... It's actually wonderful, almat it's called!

Yes any non bio powder is fine, I used tesco own brand non bio. I used the comfort pure baby softner or tescos own pure version. However we don't have skin allergies if you do as others have said you might want to skip the softner.

I'm with HelenHen. I've done about if research and decided to switch.

My eczema can get really bad, but I now use bio powder and fabric conditioner. My eczema has actually improved.

The whole family get their clothes washed with the same stuff. If we had another (which we won't) I would continue with the bio. It washed clothes better and is better for the machine.

I've used bio and softner and normal wipes since birth and no issues, I guess it depends on the baby what you can get away with for these type of things.

I've been wondering this too, I use Ariel bio and have done for years as I love the smell. I'm going to switch to fairy for when baby comes (if I remember rightly I love the smell of fairy too so this might be a non issue) then I thought I might slip the odd thing in with a bio wash and see if there's any reaction. If not I'll switch back to bio, I've got about 32,000 Ariel liquitabs to use up as went bit mad last time they were on offer!!

Persil nonbio here and comfort pure. I have really sensitive skin and that's caused no problems and ds is now 6 months.

I can't stand the feel of clothes washed without comfort.
