Ideas for new hobbies/to fill spare time whilst pregnant??

I'm finally getting over my horrendous morning sickness and starting to enjoy being pregnant and feeling normal again (16 weeks now and thought it would never happen!)

Anyway I used to spend my spare time at weekends horse riding and was about to start learning to ski, neither of which I feel comfortable doing now. I do a lot of walking with the DH but would like something else to take up the spare time I now have. I love baking and crafty things but both of these are done in the house. Ideally I want something which gets me out of the house and socialising. Any ideas? What does everyone else do?

You can join a crafting/backing group.
I joined a crafty class when I was pregnant with twins (any form of exercise or walking was a no no due to my humongous size!).

I just googled for local classes/groups. I met some wonderful people and learned new crafts as well as getting me out of the house.

backing?
baking obviously. Stupid predictive phone!

Dog walking? Do you know any friends or neighbours with friendly and easy to walk dogs (if you are preggers you do not need to be pulled along on your bottom!).
Getting out is much easier with a poochie friend to share visits to outdoors places with.

Knitting!!! Especially good in the evenings, keeps hands busy and its fun to learn new stitch patterns. At the moment, I'm knitting a shawl to breastfeed with, a baby blanket, and some cotton bathing cloths.

I've just started an evening course in sewing your own clothes including designing them and making own patterns. Great for getting out the house and really enjoyable :)

sewing or cross-stitching

any small project will do - it's better to do something relatively easy and finish it then have lots of UFOs bugging you for years!Smile

and crocheting also. I can't knit, just can't - but found crochet very easy and quick.

Join a gym? If you find a good one, there should be loads of classes that are suitable for you. Also, have a look at your local library: mine has a community room that gets hired out for everything from yoga to art classes - you might find something there. Or a college night class if you fancy learning something new?
